There are these red-quality (i.e., broken) items that sometimes drop from monsters. I play the English version of the game. It also shouldn’t be caused by mods; the only ones I use are minor UI color modifications, including some DPYes tweaks and small enhancements for the journal, quest log, and lore (like page numbers).
From time to time, when such an item drops from a monster, it disappears after a short period…less than 5 seconds, I believe. It’s quite annoying.
Would it be possible to fix this somehow, even manually? For example, by adding some localization text entries to the game’s tags_items.txt file? I’d just like some general advice on whether this is doable. If it is, I can handle it myself and maybe even share the updated English localization file here.
Those are items that dropped “broken”, ie. grey quality and immediately dissolve. How you are seeing their name plates to begin with is the real question.
Yep, that is weird. The only mod I’ve tested that also adds or changes things was Grimarillion, but I removed it because I found it a bit broken in certain aspects.
Also, I have to add that this happens in the base game. I’m not running a custom game.
DPYes as the cause of this doesn’t seem too far fetched, have you tried playing without it? I’m using Rainbow Filter but not DPYes, never seen any name tags for these items.
Yes, they do drop an disappear fairly quickly. Definitely not instantly, but a couple seconds. I occasionally see them disolving after a fight.
They’re a remnant of the grey items from Titan Quest. Most humanoid enemies would have gear pieces of this quality, with a chance for better qualities, up to Legendary. As they were mostly irrelevant to the players (baring new characters), GD opted to filter them out by making them disappear. They still do provide armor to the monsters that wear them.
