Temporary Shelters and bear attacks

So I’ve been placing temp shelters out in my work camps and other distant resources of course to provide shelter from heat and blizzards when required. However, I haven’t fully tested this idea, but it seems they’re not capable of being used as cover from either bandits or especially bear attacks. Can anyone confirm that they are only used for weather? I am regularly losing villagers at some work camps and mines due to bear attacks, a brutal reality. But they appear to only run back to town!

Far as I know it’s only weather stuff, but you could build one or two defense towers nearby and they should attack any predators/raiders attacking your workers out there.

You can also build a wooden fence, nothing like a meter high stick to fool an apex preditor. It’ll stop bears raiding your food supplies in shelters to!

While I am sure this is true (its even a tooltip!): when playing on medium difficulty and the harder maps the pacing of the game means this solution always feels like the wrong answer. Better to risk injury or loss of a generic worker than the time + resources + gold cost of building the tower. Usually you can get them to run to town and most if not all live and the towers there manage the bear. If I could even afford towers there yet, if not you’ll need the manpower in town to get the bear. Or send one hunter over to scare it off.

By the time I can support remote towers, it seems the map is explored enough, dens cleared and just random bears bears and bandits. For bandits, again high tailing it back to town always feels better than a defense that will be expensive to replace, and likely losing the fighter out there (unless he runs for it too). You don’t want to send more fighters out usually, you want to lure them to your more solid defenses anyway.

Just my observation of how I feel it plays.

This is what I’ve found, remote towers just aren’t worth a villagers life unless they cover multiple working sites. I feel the Temp shelter should act as… a shelter lol. Those under bear attack would naturally get into the nearest shelter and hope the bear gives up or takes food/waste before it can kill them.
