The apiary, a couple of questions

Where are the best places to build an apiary to get the highest honey bonus % possible?
This bonus, it does not affect wax right? I could place one apiary next to each other and still get the same amount of wax?

I place mine in my crop fields area placing them where I can get the most % out of them.

Not sure if placing 2 side by side would affect the wax production or not.

Yes I spread mine around the farms as well making sure the radius does not overlap.
Would be cool to know about the wax, at the momentmy stock of honey increases a lot slower than wax and some how I need a workaround.

Placing them near flowers, fruit trees or crops increases the production bonus. When you select a beehive and want to place it, advantageous areas appear in yellow. Also an option in the city itself, decorations give a nice boost to honey production.

Awesome TY for the infoi

Very good to know about the decorations - I never thought of a bonus from them and I positively clutter my housing areas with decorative gardens and plots - will have to squeeze in an Apiary or two!

Don’t forget that it’s your farmers who run around collecting the honey and wax though.

Very welcome!

in that case maybe its worth stacking it so farmers won’t waste any time collecting them.

But the farmers live in those same houses, so I’ll try it and see if they pick up any of the Apiary product on their way to and from work.
I’ll still put most of the Apiaries in the fields - I usually put an Apiary in each field, which provides some overlap but as far as I can see, not enough to make a huge difference, and also makes them handy to the harvest crews.

I noticed something when moving apiaries around while trying things out: in short, the potential amount of Honey Bonus shown in the tooltip takes into account the building itself when calculating the final percentage. Let me show you in screenshots because I don’t think I am expressing myself right.

Let’s place an apiary, nothing else around:

Before placing, bonus 81%.

Placed, bonus 81%

So far so good.

Now, let’s move this apiary just one cell to the left.

Before placing, bonus 43%. (starting to see what is wrong here?)

Placed, bonus 82%

So what I am pretty sure it is happening is that when moving the apiary, the potential bonus takes into account the current radius of the building itself that is being moved and subtracting it from the total amount.

Most definitely not a game stopper but a small bug nonetheless I believe. You guys think this makes sense or it that it is working as intended?

Right now when moving the building it says the bonus is 41% when in reality it turns out to be 82%.
Let me know, I’ll report it to the bugs section.

The same “bug” is present if you try to move the decorations.

Ah ok, is it something that has been reported already, do you know?

I didn’t report it, I encountered this bug before I registered on the forum. I remembered thanks to your post. It also seems to me that there are similar buildings with a bug. It looks like a well.

I do the same thing - whenever I create a new farm, I stick an Apiary in the center of the field. Honey is a good potentially profitable commodity you can trade for gold.
