The idea of changing the reward for the Rallia quest in the Blood Grove

Despite all the changes that the developers are making to improve the game, there are, in my opinion, rather strange quests with an even stranger reward. These are additional quests that you can bypass and simply not participate, especially if you know that the reward for them is insignificant. One such quest is the Rallia Rescue / Burning quest. The reward for it is experience and an unused item that you get even at Ultimate: Witch's Effigy - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database. I suggest making the reward for both salvation and burning more practical.

Rescue Reward — Witch’s Effigy (84 levels on Ultimate):

+78/+118% vitality damage

+78/+118% chaos damage

+78/+118% vitality dacay

235/353 health

+68/100 Offensive Ability

-13/19% Skill Cooldown Reduction

+2 to Destruction

+2 to War Cry

̶-̶1̶5̶%̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶o̶s̶ ̶R̶e̶s̶i̶s̶t̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶W̶a̶r̶ ̶C̶r̶y̶̶

-̶1̶5̶%̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶o̶s̶ ̶R̶e̶s̶i̶s̶t̶a̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶S̶i̶g̶i̶l̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶C̶o̶n̶s̶u̶m̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ (removed from the proposal as technically unrealizable)

-2 second Skill Recharge to War Cry

-1 second Skill Recharge to Sigil of Consumption

-20% Skill Energy Cost to Sigil of Consumption

Rallia’s Burning Reward - witch hunter medal (84 levels on Ultimate):

+50/76% Cold damage

+50/76% Bleeding damage

+50/76% Frostburn damage

35/53% Chaos Resistance

+3 to Heart Seeker

+3 to Blood of Dreeg

50% chaos damage converted to Cold damage to Blood of Dreeg

+24 Cold damage to Phantasmal Blades

-1 second Skill Recharge to Phantasmal Blades

I think that such a reward will motivate players to complete this side quest. This is just my subjective opinion, but I think that such changes will make the game more interesting and relevant.

Yeah, this item is rather useless even on Normal by the time you get it, unlike Slith ring which I sometimes use up until level 94, lol! While I like the idea, I suppose this item exists mostly “for flavor”, or as a collectible maybe? Would also probably make people mad because they throw it away immediately XD

Also:

No can do! Those skills can only get flat or % RR. Well, War Cry for certain.

I don’t know all the technical details. Just expressed my opinion on how to make a reward for the savior of the witch and the witch hunter. Of course, the proposed option may not be the best or perhaps even unrealistic, suggest your own. Perhaps your version will be more correct and the game developers will listen to your opinion.
Going through the game not for the first time, I wondered how you can fix the reward for the additional quest, which is outdated, but for some reason does not catch the eye of the game developers and is not updated.

I’m no superior to anybody, so my voice is the same as yours =) What I’m trying to say is, those items were left like this on purpouse, probably. Like that Skinner guy giving you his family ring as a token of gratitude. I think I’ve read about people actually feeling bad for selling it.

So yeah, I would call them flavor items - more or less. If you can use them because you don’t have anything better - cool. If not, well, that’s alright too =)

In any case, I want the game to reduce the number of unused items. A large selection is good when it is of equal value. Unlike Witch’s Effigy, you can somehow use other quest items.

It’s almost certainly a legacy item from back in vanilla when the quest was released, years have gone by and more potent equipment including MIs with skill modifiers are around now and the Witch’s Effigy has more or less been left behind.

Some of Crate’s developers like Zantai/Grava have explained before that going back to old content they’ve long finished just isn’t something they’re keen on doing so the chances of the off-hand getting changes is low at this point.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to get out of these though, the Witch’s Effigy for instance is just a standard green off-hand, the stats you’re proposing are practically Legendary-tier, perhaps better even. I don’t think it should be comparable to or compete with items of that stage.

Looking at the changes in the hotfix we are testing now, I would not say that the developers have abandoned the old things. I would say more, they fix old flaws and this is very encouraging. Perhaps I have too strengthened the proposed things, but this is my subjective opinion of how to make the quest interesting to complete. I do not exclude that the game balance will break in this form, so I am waiting for your feedback with your version of the awards.

you get a fat chunk of reputation for saving her if you have AoM and visit her in Coven
it’s also one of the ways to early unlock Coven reputation gain with a merit, assuming one doesn’t want to do Ugdall

even back in olden times i don’t think i ever thought of her offhand as useful/powerful in the same vein as slith ring sister necklace and fortified dublet. Main reason being, apart from it’s meh stats, is you’re probably at a stage in your character where you either have gotten better or have access to better either way, where as the early act 1-2 stuff (greens+relic) is at a point where your character have basically nothing. :thinking:

that said, it would be super cool if that quest rewarded some super nice exclusive item from her or Nathaniel, to really make a “Sophie’s Choice” quest outcome more tough to decide on than Rover Relic :yum:
(i am using her offhand illusion on a pet build fashion tho so that’s at least 1 nice part of her offhand :pensive:)

Regarding the reward on the Normal difficulty, I propose not to make a bonus to the skills, but to make +1 to the skills in question on the Elite without modifying them, and simply scale the other parameters as in Grim Dawn Item Database. I think that for other quest rewards, adding some useful thematic bonuses to Ultimate will allow players to use these things in the endgame, or at least not immediately throw / sell them. And competition with legendary items can be excluded due to the lack of affixes in these things.

I don’t mean with regards to items, I mean old areas and quests. Witch’s Effigy and the quest tied to it will have been put in place sometime in Early Access if I had to guess for the original Level 35 version you receive from doing the quest in Normal/Veteran and the stats were balanced for that point in time and that level. Then when Elite/Ultimate were added, the same quest was duplicated with the item having the same stats but higher and more of an XP reward.

Yes, I do not develop mods and play without mods and additional programs. Therefore, I offer my subjective suggestions for improving the game.

Quest rewards, in my opinion, should have a unique status and comparing them with any other types of items is incorrect, because you get them only once per game, so they should look decent.

In order not to create an additional topic, I will write my subjective opinion about the improvement of quest rewards, as well as the quests themselves.

Perhaps I’ll start with two NPCs, the presence of which in the game I think no player understands. These are Julius Cole and Helen Fletcher, located near the Twin Falls Rift.Some kind of reward begs for when they get into Devil’s Crossing or as a reward for the search for their caches, but unfortunately there is none of this.

As a reward for returning tokens of dead scouts, you can give one of the parts of this set: Adornments of Valiance - Item sets - Grim Dawn Item Database . I think it will be relevant even for Ultimate.

Regarding other rewards for quests, I would like to propose to add bonuses to skills, and on the Veteran +1 is added to the specified skill, on the Elite +2, on the Ultimate +3. I would like to raise the level of things to level 84 or at least 75.
Below are the items and the bonuses offered:

Sister's Amulet of Lifegiving - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Menhir`s Will , +3 Blast Shield);

Fortified Doublet - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Fighting Spirit, +3 Pneumatic Burst);

Slith Primal Ring - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Anatomy of Murder, +3 Blood Pact);

Skinner Family Seal - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Field Command,+3 Curse of Frailty);

Isaac's Spaulders - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Menhir`s Bulwark,+3 Temper);

Manticore Longsword - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Dual Blades,+3 Blood of Dreeg);

Skinner's Torch - Items - Grim Dawn Item Database (+3 Flame Touched,+3 Vulnerability).

Perhaps I forgot some reward. Again, this is just my subjective opinion about improving quest rewards.
