Dunno. I’m still at Elite
Drink more experience potions, I recommend one every 5-10 min for building up a massive stream
Lol thank you. I have been waiting forever for someone else to carry the comedy torch.
Lol ahahaha
Reading the thread title, I am expecting for some kind of crime scene investigation quoting many reference from CSI TV series.
Only to be disappointed by some blabberish analogy.
I was hoping this thread will be pretty great. Actually, they’re just OK…
Finding the balance is like the market, demand and supply. You can’t just pick minuses, you need some pluses as well.
And sometimes the quest for buffs and not nerfs is like peeing against strong wind.
how did a thread about nerf issue started from bench press > knight butthurted by crossbow’s nerf arrows > the struggle of peeing as one ages?
I really don’t have opinion either way with nerfs being positive or negative. All I am saying is that they are a reality in life as well in gaming. I raised the topic as a discussion point of how to address and deal with them. Some players complain and some players adapt. I fall more into the “adapt” scenario. By all means petition the developers if you believe the nerf is really illogical and is seriously affecting the quality of the game. Crate is pretty good in resolving issues that seem to be upsetting the majority of its user base.
Yea, my example is a basic simplification to show that shit out of our control will always happen. Who fixes or addresses the problem is another story. The pseudo scientists can buckle down and eventually come up with effective countermeasures, but that does not really help the soldiers in real time. He has to relook at his current situation and adapt to the changes when they occur. To throw another theoretical spanner in the works, what would happen if the Scientists say that the Soldiers are not using the equipment properly and the Soldiers say that they are. The old blame game.
I am also surprised at how at how such a thread became multiple different “yarns” with tangents all over the place, but the thread is quite active and people are interacting by responding either positively or negatively, so that cannot be bad situation can it?
well as long as the discussion stays on topic, a few derpy jokes here and there won’t hurt.
anyway. nerfs are just like scientific experimentation. it can set the game forwards or backwards, depending on how the community adapts to it. balancing nerfs with buffs are important to make sure gameplay is engaging and challenging without being unfair.
you know what’s worse than badly implemented nerfs? a developer that doesn’t give news/updates/response to the community for months. thank god crate is communicative with players and quite active in the forum.
be thankful, we have Nerftai-minator, otherwise this game would have been so boring from the beginning.
look at other games, most of the devs have abandoned it, at least we are moving forward
Well said kukuhiman. This is the one thing that I want the most in this game. And hopefully it will always be that way until this game become final.
Sorry, I am not quite as good as Grissom, just trying to get my point across. As he says “The Devil is in the Details” …
Cleanse the Details with Holy Water then.
If that fails, use the Holy Hand Grenade.
I have just registered to reply to this topic. I’m looking to buy a new game similar to diablo 2. Grim dawn looks great, but after seeing so much dynamics and involvement from the creators I’m not sure. I like games that are final products. I don’t want to pay to become a beta tester. If there’s a build that is strong and I choose it - I want it to remain strong. You fans and testers can argue as much as you want, but this is just a game. I pay my hard earned coin to relax and not to worry about stock market dynamics or my gym performance. I pay for an entertainment and a stable one. Some builds are too strong and you don’t like that? Play something else. I would play those!
Think I’ll just play Path of Exile instead, until this game becomes stable.
As raised in this thread, there is problem that one of the “selling” points of Grim Dawn is the huge class and build variation. But in the end, each patch there is like 4-5 builds that are just outstanding. This is contradictory to one of the main selling points.
It would also render 99% of all the other items, classes, skills, devotions etc that has been implemented in the game useless which is just time wasted by the devs, if only 4-5 builds are “OP”.
If I were a game developer myself, I would strive to make all the things that I have created “equally” good or at least have the potential for it. I would see each skill, each item etc as my own child and as a parent I do not have favorite kids you know…
But the “damage” has already been done. Grim Dawn has peaked in terms of playerbase size. Many players have abandoned Grim Dawn long time ago so in some sense, I do not know why devs just keeps trying to balance stuff. Just finish the game and let it be and move on to the next game. Grim Dawn has been a huge success on the ARPG scene and has set new standards for the genre
you mean 20y old? Did you play D2 durings its patchings in the early 2000’s? xD (I did)
Or do you mean a game where one class is OP compared to all the others? (I am talking about Sorc, free teleport and weapon damage independent skills = win win win) no reason to play anything else than a sorc, run hell meph and LK until you have basically all the good items than make other chars just “for fun” good game, very balanced game NOT
But to be serious, have you played Titan Quest?
Broken builds are a big no-no for the devs, so if you expect this game will have any OP builds in its finished state, got bad news for you.
Also, like malawiglenn said, there’s no build diversity if there are an handful of broken builds, while the rest of the items are useless or underpowered. And one of the selling points is the large amount of class combinations.
How is path of exile a better option if you dont want stock market dynamics?
Great! Do it as your homework, test, implement, then sell it to me. I will gladly pay you 100$ for the final product, but don’t bother me with changes after that. I have enough of that in my real life with family, business, health.
