The Paladin Thread

I have already started leveling an Inquisitor to make a Paladin, can’t wait for the expansion!

not sure what to feel about this cult but I’d be probably making a paladin too. Not just my priority since Inquisitor mastery needs some tuning first:rolleyes:

I am more interested with a warlord. Dream shield build incoming! And since Zantai featured that It’s most probably better than a paladin:rolleyes:

Same except the name is so bad. “Dervish”. I sincerely hope they rename it before release.

warlord rhymes with star lord. Sounds like a joke to me! :stuck_out_tongue:

divinely agree. Name of masteries makes a huge difference. The reason why tons of people like the death knight is its not because of its synergy but because of the name itself and how cool it is. Had they name it something else like dark champion or death warrior it would flop so bad that people will avoid it like a disease . Grave Walker would have been a cool name too. People dont get it but similarly that treatment will radiate similar love towards paladin. We can only hope the dervish get a makeover and land a better fate

I don’t understand what’s so bad about Dervish as a name. Personally I dislike shieldbreaker and also oppresor a bit.

I just don’t view it as a “Class”. I view it as a skill name. El Critico is correct above in that name does matter (at least to me). For example, I only play classes with names I like. It’s a quirk yes but one I believe is widely shared. Classes I currently play:

Witch Hunter
Pyromancer
Ritualist
Cabalist (I only play this because it’s the optimal pet class; name is meh)
Druid

Classes I refuse to play:

Warder
Infiltrator
Tactician
Conjurer (Man, I love this class combo but the name just throws me off)
Commando
Saboteur
Spellbinder
Spellbreaker

Everything else I’ll play but they don’t excite me. In regard to the expansion; I won’t play Dervish/Archon/Shieldbreaker as I’m not a fan of the names.

Petty I know… but if I’m going to spend hundreds of hours with these toons, I’d rather the names not be that bad. I also spend stupid amounts of time thinking up names for my toons.

People love DK because Arthas. Sadly Arthas build isn’t so viable. Difference between DK before and Paladin now is that there wasn’t any el critico for DK back then, so the hype wasn’t that big :stuck_out_tongue:

Attention to all aspiring knights! Let us all gather together and take a glimpse of our wondrous future!

See you all!

If you’re going to quote me, don’t edit the quote.

Don’t do that again.

sorry Zantai! wont happen again:(

o the other hand we are so blessed to have you here! Again sorry

a lot of disturbing info from stream after watching Zantai:

  1. Zantai said paladin will be nerfed because its too OP.
  2. Zantai said warlord is a better paladin?
  3. and his favorite class is sentinel and not a paladin? why is sentinel bettter? how is that possible?
  4. Paladin is too in popular and in demand that he may nerf it for that reason

Please i hope he is just jesting:eek:

Well, if he does it’s your own fault for going on about it so much.

We cant let the dark ones preside over Cairn. Divine Victory is at hand! ! Show your support! Time to show them what it means to be paladin

Dashing skills (of the “running slash” variety) are a favorite of mine; q.v. Dashing Strike in D3. Hence, once I fully internalized how Vire’s Might worked, I knew I’d be doing an Oathkeeper of some sort. So the next question was, what other kind of skills did I want? At least, in the fire department?

Given my fondness for Rune of Hagarrad’s grenade qualities, my eyes quickly settled on Rune of Kalastor, even if it doesn’t have the debuffing qualities of Hagarrad. So, Paladin largely settled on.

Later on, while rewatching the stream to pick up skill names (sometimes, I pick classes/dyads based on what all the skill names together suggest the usual thinking process for that dyad is), I chanced to hear Zantai say that there would be an item that converted Vire’s Might’s fire damage to frost.

As in the elemental half of Rune of Hagarrad.

Paladin pretty much sealed in.

(Now watch that item turn out to be keyed to the Templar/Dervish/Spellbreaker triangle. My money is on it actually being a possible Conduit of Whispers, though.)

It helps that looking at the skill names, Inquisitor and Oathkeeper seem to be among the saner classes. (Soldier and Arcanist are also sane, but a bit sere.)
