The Tree of Life - Choose Your Branch (New Mastery Type Tree Skill)

-The Tree of Life-

This is just an ideea for something new in the game. Something new, different or something else to want to farm for.
The Tree of Life would be another tab next to masteries and devotion, that would have “Branches”, each branch representing a Symbol of Creation and each symbol beeing a sort of Diety/God for each class (2masteries) and give bonuses specific to those 2 masteries.

The experience for leveling up the Tree of Life would require maybe something new, like daily missions, that would take at least 20-30mins to finish.
You might have to go kill a monster, get his head, bring it to someone, then he/she makes something with the head, sends u to kill another monster with what she/he made, after which u find a letter that someone is traped and so on. It’s just an example of something that would not be fast.

Daily missions, every 12 or 24 hours, so you cant get to max level in 24h if u farm like a rat, and boom, ur done…and there’s always something new or different to do each day. Or maybe there would be an extra experience bar, in the tree of life tab, that would grow with monster kills, at half the normal rate u get for normal leveling up. So you would get to max level of 50 tree of life when u reach lvl 100 for player, or even after, cause u wouldnt get exp from quests that adds up to tree of life exp.
Maybe even some missions with a specific amount of time to finish them, and if u don’t…well…there is alawys tomorrow again.

There would not be any possible way to increase the experience gained for the tree of life. Not by potions / not by items.

At every 10th mission there would be a hard battle, with timer, and missions 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 would only be completable in single player, lvl 10, only in normal/veteran, level 20 and 30 only in elite, level 40 only in ulti, and lvl 50 only in ulti after u kill logorean, this taking in account that it would be possible to exp that fast, which shouldnt be.

The Tree of Life - Branches:

1. Kether (Crown)
2. Chokmah (Wisdom)
3. Binah (Understanding)
4. Chesed (Kindness/Mercy)
5. Geburah (Strenght/Judgment)
6. Tiphereth (Beauty)
7. Netzach (Victory/Eternity)
8. Hod (Splendour)
9. Yesod (Foundation)
10. Malkuth (Kingdom)
11. Daath (Knowledge)
12. The Abyss (Darkness)
13. Ain Soph Aur (Limitless Light)
14. …
15. …
etc…

Each branch, at max level (50) would give a player the following:
+1 all skills(at lvl 25) and +2 all skills(at lvl 50)
+any type of bonus to specific mastery skills (maybe with option to choose 2 of 5-7)
+5 devotion skill points over the 55max limit (1 per 10 levels)
+1000 Health and Spirit
+250% to 2 types of damages native to the branch and player’s masteries
+25% res to 2 types of res native to branch (each branch having different, maybe 1 primary and 1 secondary)
+50% increase to all augment bonuses for only 1 type of item (only boots or only chest or only head etc), each branch having a different item type maybe with the option to chose 1 of 3
+5% of all branch bonuses from each player of the same branch in your party
+5% (0.1% per level) to 1 stat (physique, cunning or spirit)
+25% Light radius
+25% Movement Speed
+pet bonuses for branches that ar for pet masteries
+1 uber end level branch specific skill (direct or passive) / 50s recharge if direct

Just an ideea for something new to do i game, cause it feels like after u finish ulti u do same things each round, nemesis, celestials, sot, boc and port…restart…
And this ideea wouldnt require to create nothing new as in-game content…maybe 1 new npc that gives the quests, and some texts, and the quests can relate to in-game already existing monsters and places/npcs/items/etc.

oh FCS, another one?

Dude, they just released a major freaking expansion with two new masteries and hours and hours of new factions and enemies and allies and graphics and plot, and since then you’ve been making post after post of “ideas for something new in the game.”

They haven’t even finished releasing all of the new stuff they’ve developed. If you want to play some other game entirely so damn much, why do you have to talk about it here?

I know you have the right to post whatever the hell you want, but can you throttle it back just a bit and let people have a few weeks to talk about all the new stuff that actually exists before you have to push on about something more still?

It’s exhausting trying to read past your oblivious firehose of “do something that isn’t Grim Dawn” posts.

</rant>

They might not even have time to read this post for the next 2-3 weeks, that is not my problem, or yours, and sharing ideeas has never done any bad, just for people like u apperantly, that for some unknown reason, wouldnt like something new in game, if it were possible, no matter what the ideea was…play diablo much ?

Whatever dude. I knew better as soon as I hit post, but still. Hope is a bitch.

You do you.

Be like me. Abandon all hope. Become a pessimist. You are only ever vindicated or pleasantly surprised.

Shrug. He has a right to share his opinion here, just as you have a right to say his opinion sucks. That’s all there is to it. No need to get testy.

Moving past the notion that these skills vary between useless (Light radius, really?) to absurd and/or broken. This is not something that can’t be inserted into the game as is.

Something like this would take a hell of a lot of designing and testing. More than that, I’m of a mind that a feature this big would have had to have been planned, designed and implemented during the game’s infant stages just as the devotion system was during Early Access. Throwing this in now would create chaos as bosses and nemeses are balanced around what we have access to now.

Of course, there’s also the time and money it would take to create art, possibly animations and/or effects (unless they reused existing assets) and so on. It’s not feasible.

If you want something to do at endgame as that was the root of your suggestion, I propose the following ideas:

-Farm for Reputation/Infamy on your characters. Reputation is easy to reach but Infamy can take time on some of them like Kymon’s Chosen/Death’s Vigil, especially if you don’t use warrants.

-Tying into the above - take and do bounties. They offer a wide range of bosses and objectives to farm for.

-Rogue dungeon running. There are 3 and soon to be 4 so you have some variety.

-Crucible.

-Look at mods. There should be some that offer you some sort of endgame progression or infinite system. I think someone pre-expansion was working on rifts for example but have no idea how that’s working out now :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit:

Also, I have a question for you. When you do inevitably reach Level 50 in your fantasy Tree. What will you do then? Will you ask the developers for another progression system? Infinite progression? That won’t happen. Zantai has said that they have designed the game so that players will reach a point where their character is effectively “done”. No matter how much progression you want, whether it is what we have now or what you want to add - you will eventually reach an end. What you do then is up to you.

Something similar to this can only be implemented now in a sequel. This game is already far too deep into development to introduce something like this and it would be a true nightmare to balance the current game around this.

It reminds me something i’ve seen on Rift. I think that to implement something like this in the game and not unbalancing the shit out of it would be an impossible task. Game is already very rich of features and synergies as it is, between skills, equip, devotions, set bonuses, conversion mechanism…

What you are proposing is entirely another game

yeah - 10 new bonuses added to the player means a new game…i think the easiest way to do it…is share the ideeaa - and ignore aboslutley anyone replying…most people replying on this forum have close minded - u dont like change, u dont like new, u dont like different - go play diablo kids - if just the ideea of something new bothers u - then please - stay and do the same thing daily…

If it’s a problem for you cause it’s hard work for the devs to do it, u might be in love with them (no offense for the devs)…I might dislike 50% of ideeas on the forum - i dont go wasting my time making me look like a virgin cry baby just to cry for atttention in every single thread…

U dont like something - good - but dont go saying nonsenses that has no corelation the the main idee.

If 10 people share 10 different ideeas for the game, and none get into the game…is it wrong ? No - u are just frustraded people with no ideeas of ur own…

If LIMITED stash space is something normal to you - again - GO PLAY DIABLO.

I find it interesting that you keep telling people to go play a different game while you try to turn Grim Dawn into a different game.

Pretty sure GD has enough options to build your character already. We’ve got 2 masteries, attributes, devotions, items, item skill modifiers, components and augments. You’re telling me we need even more layer on top of this? The current system is fine as it is, future content should expand on those, not add new layers to it.
