Theorycrafting for Fangs of Asterkarn - Chaos Berserker?

Say I wanted to make a berserker focused on chaos damage and with some self sustain.
Is occultist or demolitionist a better 2nd class?
Demo has reductions to enemy chaos % and also flat resistances.
It also gives bonus physical damage and HP regen.

For devotions, I’m thinking Abominable Might is the most important?

Not sure if blackwater cocktail is worth upgrading for extra chaos damage?

For levelling in the early game, I think demo with fire strike would be the easiest.

(My other idea of the berserker would be pure cold damage combined with necromancer.)

why those weapons?

I’m more so thinking about the skillset and devotions, but my best guess is that dual axes will be the best way for middle and late game given one of the devotions requires axe or spear (obviously these 2 would be replaced with the levels 75 84 94 versions respectively)

But you seem to want to do Chaos damage, and unless I’m missing something, you don’t have a way to convert the physical damage from those weapons to
Chaos? I’d use Gruldir’s Tainted Cleaver instead (which happens to also be an axe).

Since you’re doing a Dreadnaught, the Apoclypton set seems tailored toward this build. I’m trying to theorycraft a Berserker/Occultist Chaos Werewolf myself, so not sure how good that set would be for me though.

That’s a good shoutout thank you, the tainted axe does seem like the best choice.
There’s also an axe that buffs crit damage but i think spreading into fire would be very inefficient for the build.

I am also thinking of doing a Berserker/Occultist Chaos Werewolf, do you know what you wanna spend your onslaught stacks on? I am currently thinking doombolt.

I thought that werewolf can’t use onslaught?

I just started a berserker/occultist chaos werewolf and his attack skill descriptions say they don’t use weapon pool skills?

there are items that can make werewolf generate onslaught stacks

I actually think this might be viable at high levels, updated link:

The Darkblaze set converts fire and some physical damage to chaos.
Voidheart further reduces enemy chaos resistance by 10%.
(Still work in progress but this looks feasible so far.)

Ohoho, it looks like something perfect for my werechaos.

Updated the build fully Dreadnaught, Level 100 (GD 1.3.0.0) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator

I’m only level 24 so far but I will try this when i get the items at the higher levels.
Devotions: Giant’s Blood, Wayward Soul for survivability.
Abominable Might, Hydra for damage. Solael’s Eldritch Fire is mandatory as it gives -35% chaos res.
