Since I have in IA stormweaver I*'m thinking of building a new character around this shaman is 1st class I’d take what’s the best 2nd class to take since I’m very defensive already as shaman
Demo 2nd for 2h lightning, no reason to take anything else.
Stormreaver kinda sucks it has 0 attack speed, try to find a 2h with conversion and attack speed. It’ll work better than a lot of weapons you’ll have access to, but even with the +2 Shaman it is a weak weapon ;(
I think you meant Stormreaver? Not sure. Assuming that’s the case…
Soldier is a solid standby, for extra tankiness. You’ll be in melee, so tanky is good. Also offers flat OA and DA in a couple places, and you might have issues with that, even with Savagery’s second part helping out. The OA, I mean, not the DA.
Demo isn’t a bad option, and maxing out Stun Jacks without transmuting it would give you a good ‘nuke’ ability. Primal Strike isn’t really good for that, so having one would be nice, and Demo offers other benefits as well.
Other than those two, there’s no GREAT option. Arcanist would offer elemental damage with Iskandra’s, but since you’re only doing Lightning, you’d only get 1/3 use of it. Outside of CoF, Occ has no use to you. Nightblade is entirely useless for Lightning 2H.
That depends on how you build things. If you are relying on ADCTH heavily, which Shaman doesn’t have to, or if you’re heavily relying on procs… Which will be unlikely, since you’ll probably want Storm Totem because it’s got synergy with your weapon.
Outside of those two, you don’t actually benefit from swinging FASTER. In many cases, it’s easier to swing faster rather than harder, but not all of them. You CAN just hit hard and slowly, if you’d like, and still kill everything in the game in a decent amount of time.
Probably not Crucible, simply because that is messed as heck right now, and has way less build diversity than the actual game. But you know, 2Hs, Crucible… Not a popular thing.
Is dawngaurd set a good set for this one have it in IA already too except for the axe
shaman+demo will give you a good experience and happy life for being lighting build. more incorporate skill.
demo has good offensive and defensive with less requirement than soldier.
I do have a warder(shaman+soldier) I’d say lightning isn’t that satisfy. It has many thing limit the potential of the build. 2H lightning use few support of soldier and if don’t wear shield the lower tankiness it is. Also less damage compared to demo, but you can use defensive things in demo regardless what weapon you held.
What about the part where ~any 2h shaman build is an auto attacker and attack speed greatly increases our dps??
Since I’m back I’ll clarify why demo is best. It offers decent hp in mastery (unlike say arcanist), amazing defensive trio in flashbang/blastshield/high potency blackwater which are god tier and just as good as some extra health and a heal provided by soldier (though the free armor absorb is god tier), flashbang+flametouched gives us highest possible offensive ability, and thermite mines give huge lightning res debuff. It is by far the best combo offensively and the survivability is on par with soldier because we can negate so much damage
Attack Speed isn’t the only way to increase DPS. It’s just the easiest one in most cases.
TomoDak is right, Stormreaver seems like it’s built for Electrocute damage first and Lightning damage second. That’s not to say you can’t make it work in a Lightning build but other weapons will outperform it if you’re using it for a build that focuses on auto-attacking abilities like Savagery.
Pretty much what some people said, Stormreaver is subpar for Lightning 2H build due to having no Attack speed. Ultos Stormseeker is overall better.
Demolitionist is pretty much the best second mastery for 2H Lightning due to the aumont of CC, resist reduction, total speed, survivability, damage increase and OA it has. It gives the best balance of damage and tankyness.
You can go for Occultist for Cof, Blood of Dreeg and Solael Witchfire. Soldier for more tankyness. But i feel both of these don’t do as much as Demolitionist due to the reason i mentioned above.

Stormreaver are made for electrocute, and (with good build) can hit more then 100k of electrocution per tick.
But nowdays everybody uses full Ultos, not wanting to notice other solutions for 2h lighting build.

It’s a lot of fun, it facerolls Ultimate and clear half of Crucible Gladiator. And a lot of lighting! And yes, Stormreaver looks like a casting weapon, but again, if you want to go into caster, 1h + off-hand is going to be better.
Demo is probably the best, but I always prefer arcanist for the high crit damage

There is but fire is better with inquisitor / demolitionist as shown in dev stream
Here’s the problem Electrocute is generally weaker than other DoT types so it’s not exactly the best of investments.
While I also am not a fan of generic builds but despite trying to come up with “Crazy” builds I still value performance. Stormreaver isn’t bad per se but if one has access to Ultos pieces that would be much better
Of course this is just for 2h Lightning Melee, if it’s DW Lightning Melee then i don’t think going full Ultos is necessary. Spark of Ultos (provided you pick Nightblade for Lethal Assault conversion), Stormheart and Crystallum will probably out do any Ultos build (for DW)
No need to show off any of those green rolled daggers which will probably be better than the weapons i mentioned, some of us are kind of poor in the green item department
