I’ve been loving the shaman experience while leveling, but a recent discovery I made has completely blown me away. With this re-worked Primal Strike build, my damage has nearly doubled:
Primal Strike 16/16
Wendigo Totem 9/12
Primal Bond 7/12
I can’t believe how strong Primal Bond is. It gives me tons of extra damage and survivability.
Primal Strike can attack from range as well as melee, which grants incredible versatility without sacrificing any damage. I simply swipe to my rifle when I need to and blow everything away.
But the real kicker - and I mean the REAL kicker - is the devotions. The Kraken tree is unreal. It gives an insane damage boost that blows any other devotion out of the water (unless I’ve missed something). When the constellation is complete, it grants +120% to all damage and +80% to physical damage. It also grants movement and attack speed, which puts my attack speed at 104%, making my rifle extremely strong.
FYI, this is a phys. damage spec at about lvl 30. My points are split between Cunning and Physique. Although my secondary class is Occultist, I haven’t touched it because the Shaman is so damn fun.
Primal bonds, combined with kraken devotions, makes Primal strike incredibly strong. Wendigo totem gives me the heal needed to survive big fights. The added flexibility of switching between melee to ranged when I like makes things very interesting. Everything is just melting away. I LOVE it!
Yeah I’m currently playing a level 58 Warder but with Savagery, Feral Hunger and Zolhan’s Technique with Oleron’s Might (260% weapon damage with flat physical damage) and Rebuke (500% weapon damage) (Legendary 2H mace Stonefist Rebuke and Oleron’s Blood component).
Since completing The Kraken my damage has gone through roof. Along with the tankiness from my gear/skills/Devotion, -84 DA on hit from Stonefist Rebuke and -125 DA from Rebuke and the massive damage boost (I’m currently at ~970% physical damage), I’m face tanking Bosses/Heroes whilst the same time killing them within 20 seconds (~36k non crit rebuke hit ~45k Rebuke crit). Shame it won’t last until Ultimate.
My first character (I’m new) was a shaman, and I lucked into something similar that worked really well. Wendigo Totem, Savagery, non-transmuted Primal Strike, and Mogdrogen’s Pact. Tenacity of the Boar doubles Mog’s health regen when your savagery buff is up, and non-transmuted Primal Strikes is an insane small AoE nuke on a short cd. I ended up switching to a DW savagery/stormcaller’s pact build around level 50, but I can imagine my original build would have been even crazier with Primal Bond.
Pick up a level on Storm surge and Torrent, and attach the Falcon constellation proc to Primal strike. This should help you clear much faster (and you want to start leveling Falcon asap anyway).
