IMHO, Aeon’s Hourglass is a great defensive constellation, especially for builds that try to maximize Dodge/Deflect chance. Time Stop wasn’t exactly the greatest devotion skill, but I found it quite useful in all my builds that utilized Aeon’s Hourglass. Time Dilation, on the other hand, I find completely useless, even for casters (which I admittedly don’t play that much).
P.S. Just to remind you about Time Stop (10/10):
3 Second Skill Recharge
3 Meter Radius
Petrify target for 3 Second
70% Slow target for 3 Seconds
Time dialation is amazing. It allows you to cast all of your skills without any cooldowns that means your unkillable for that amount of time and can destroy anything in seconds. Time stop was way worse.
So, you actually take damage on purpose to activate it? Every 50 seconds or so? Even with hardcore chars? I find it bothersome and dangerous.
Turtle Shell, which is also a skill that activates when you’re damaged, does exactly what’s needed when you’re damaged. You don’t need to think about it.
The hell you talking about? Time Dilation is the best skill ever in term of making 8 seconds highlight videos for some sweet Youtube subs.
Time Dilation in combination with Mirror is broken as fuck, but for any build that doesn’t have access to Mirror it is very underwhelming.
I will never bother with the skill as it just doesn’t make sense to how I play.
Prefer Time Stop because I think Time Dilation is overpowered as balls.
Maybe so, but the risk factor of taking damage kind of compensates that. Then again never made a Time Dilation build
You can use an item like mark of divinity or use menhirs will or something, it lessens the risk a lot.
Ive never used time stop, but it seems useless against bosses who are generally cc immune. Since clearing trash is not a difficult task… I’d have to wager that time stop is not that great.
Except every build that uses Time Dilation takes Mirror, therefore they stop taking damage the entire time Time Dilation is active + 2 or 3 seconds after it ends if you time Mirror correctly. Basically allowing you to face tank anything as a caster.
Like i said, never made a TD Build. Am familiar with those skills. Usually when Divine Light kicks in i run the shit out of that place after throwing as much shit as i can.
Time Stop was useless but Time Dilation is the most powerful thing in devotion and probably the game. Would have prefered something in the middle of the power spectrum instead.
Speaking of casters, and i’m off topic here. Is 9.3k sheet DPS good for DEE on Ultimate? I mean i rarely die and clear things with little trouble, but i still take a lot of time to get Elite Mogdrogen to 50%. I mean Ultimate Alkamos died in 2-3 minutes and Elite Mog’s hp doesn’t even budge in 2-3 minutes
Time Stop really doesn’t doe use any good. It’s useless against the strongest things in the game.
As for Time Dilation true that. Although i hope devotions get a revamp, i was looking at some Tier-3 constellations and two of them looked useless to me- Tree of Life and Light of Empyrion. To reach the latter i noticed the constellations we need to pick is pretty odd, but what’s worse is the reward from the constellation isn’t worth.
It wasn’t useless. It saved my ass a few times fighting Loxmere, for example. It worked quite well for dual-wield melee builds, as additional crowd control.
Me too. Time Dilation is offensive caster’s skill and it just doesn’t fit Aeon’s Hourglass constellation as a whole. I like defensive constellations and I still use Aeon’s Hourglass for melee builds, I just turn off Time Dilation star.
Why do you turn it off for melee builds ?
And I wouldn’t say it’s an offensive skill, it can be used however you want. Having mirror means you can’t die all the time it’s active and for a few seconds after. I would say that makes it a pretty good defensive skill too.
It’s really good on some melee builds from what I’ve seen… shadow strike seems like it would work really well with 0 cooldown. If it works on component skills too I could see it being even better.
Still, I agree that it doesn’t really fit the constellation, but it’s a good skill as it is now, probably too good.
Some players here have been able to kill Fabius in under 3 seconds using SS + TD.
It doesn’t work with component skills because component skills aren’t affected by CDR.
TD trivializes most boss encounters but is useless for general trash clearing. It’d probably be better if it were moderately effective for both.
I explained already. It requires too much micromanagement for my taste, getting damaged without getting killed. I don’t have great reflexes, I play as safe as possible. Titan Quest and now Grim Dawn are only fast paced action games I’ve ever played. Usually I prefer turn-based strategies and old-fashioned rpgs.
