Titan Quest Sands were better!

I noticed this, too, seems like it would be an easy fix

Telkines had no background whatsoever, because they are so poorly developed and explained that you can literally swap them around and nothing would change, while the bosses in GD are given background. The bosses besides Typhon and Hades lack any background is one of the major faults of the story, most of them is just “this thing is causing bad things, kill it” with no idea why they are doing in the first place. Only Typhon and Hades have any buildup and background, rest are forgettable monsters with forgettable attacks.

The boss fights in TQ are all a joke honestly, buildup is wasted when your boss drops in literally five seconds. Krieg lasts longer than that and he’s the first boss.

And Typhon and Hades gimmick was literally littering the screen with effects.

sorry… i’m not talking about the gameplay there, i’m talking about the story/lore/atmosphere/npc interactions comparison between the main game and the xpacks. i do agree though that Ragnarok has some serious problems with some popular mods. ragnarok as a whole is a mixed bag.

about the boss battles comparison between tq and gd… i guess its a matter of taste whether you like tq’s brightly coloured environment or gd’s grimdark depressingly coloured environment. however, buildups before boss battles are good in tq (judging from the atmosphere). in gd imo the great boss battles are krieg, loghorrean (the areas before log’s arena are underwhelming though), theodin (his fleshworks are awesome. the battle has awesome soundtracks, and theodin waving his giant aether crystal to call meteors is quite impressive animation), & korvaak (he can be considered on par with typhon).
those bosses i mentioned also have lore backgrounds that define their characters. in the end both games have some awesome boss battles though.

charon deserve special mention though. his quote “PILLARS, RISE!” accompanied by river styx forming roaring pillars of deadly water is an unforgettable moment in whole tq.

Grim Dawn sands are less sticky in nature and portrays much lesser footprint traffic!

sadly Titan Quests wins again, an older engine with better and much more lively footprint traffic!

those Greek sandals are definitely heavy and shows how travelling by foot in hot Egypt sands is much more fun and interactive !

in conclusion: Titan Quest Sands are better!

They seem to clean their shoes pretty well in GD.

lol

which pretty much does not reflect reality! who has got time to clean when a much more pressing job of killing monsters should be top priority!

If you read through the entire Darkvale\Karroz lore then Log had a decent build up of his own.

Marcell lacks build, I can see why he’d be the final boss as lore wise he is supposed to be the smartest aetherial when it comes down to flesh manipulation. But in terms of power levels and lore he pales in comparison to Loghorren.

Korvaak arguably had the best build up till date, to top it off his boss fight is one of the best ones in my experience in an Isometric ARPG. Not hating on TQ here but GD has a good amount of build up for certain bosses.

EDIT:
What’s with the weird tags.

I don’t know. Zantai is apparently a nerd in this thread.

it only means he is affected by this thread and he will use all his nerding powers to fix this in a posthaste hotfix;)

TQ looks like a horse shoe tournament game gone wrong lol.

Im sure you are an experienced arpg player so you are saying korvaak fiight is better than most d3 figgts? I havent played much d3 myself but the way i look at their boss fights they looks so flashy and cool. Not sure about the difficulty though as korvaak fiight can be more challenging when compared?

Also I think it is an insult to GD when you compare this game’s boss fights to Diablo IIIs. Gameplay wise and animation wise I’d say the answer is subjective but if we go by lore and build up then I’d say GD wins hands down save for Callagadra which is arguably the worst boss in the game. For fuck’s Kyzogg had more build up than that piece of crap boss.

Yes there are other games with flashier bosses but not all of them are great boss fights. D3’s fights regardless of how flashy they are fall on their face because of how crappy the build up to them is. That being said Cydaea is anomaly in D3, she is a great boss and actually has some great lines and nice VA.

As for experience in isometric ARPGs, I’d say my experience is limited mostly because I am too picky about the games I play. But from the ones I have played Korvaak is easily one of the best boss fights I have had.
