Titan Quest Sands were better!

Crate I was wondering what happened to the engine. Why arent there footprint in the sands:eek:

Immersion breaking! This made walking in TQ sands more fun! so please put some footprints if you can:cool:

i was highly skeptical of this thread based on the title, but after reading the post i’ve got to say “he’s got a point.”

Never got too far in TQ but footprints in sand sounds awesome. +1 from me.

Played some TQ today and I feel sad looking at GD. At least we at Korvan have sand tornadoes:p

As everybody knows budget of Titan Quest was a 100 times more than a budget of Grim Dawn at a very beginning of development.

But only few knows that a 99% of TQ budget was spent at footprint in the sands)

made sense. But overall Korvan sands are more brutal than TQ at least.

overall apart from the sands having no footprints I would have wished the actual campaign sands are also bigger and wider. Thing is we have to be doing the secret quest to actually feel the desert: Bonebleach basin should have also been included in main pathways or at least a portion of it cause some form of Damage ground attack makes up for interesting fights.

I agree, i miss the feeling of getting lost you have the first times you cross Ugdenbog. the path in FG is a little too straightforward. that said the diversity of environments is impressive and most of the areas are gorgeous.

imo malmouth city is the most confusing maze in grim dawn. you have to
trespass properties repeatedly in order to progress.

speaking of sands, i’d rather see more sandstorm and sand tornadoes rather
than some unnecessary footprints. this isn’t a detective game anyway. but i
don’t mind footprints.

It’s more like the ambient extension. And if it was in TQ then they already have the stuff they need for making it here too (just like bows and spears) I guess. Its never hurt

sure… while we’re at it, why not add invisible ranged enemies in sandy areas that
can only be tracked by their footprints… and make their ai kite a lot…

Finally the game will become playable for me! I am so excited to see my footprints in the sand. Thank you Zantai and Mr Programmer.

I still like TQ more because it has way better story, areas and everything. I play GD more now because it has better gameplay.

Add GD gameplay to everything TQ has and we have the best game ever. I know some people disagree, but those are mostly people who first played GD and then TQ. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait…TQ had a story?

I played it for years and all i know was

  • Random guy comes to save village

  • Proceeds through various myth areas with no lore or explanation

  • Is congratulated by Zeus

  • hades is salty.

GD differs in that it has lore and explanations, otherwise pretty much the same story-wise.

Yeah but there is a lot more lore in GD and effort for it.

I loved TQ you know that. But the lore minimal there. It was just the atmosphere of well made and relatable myth areas

Titan Quest blew me away back then not because of lore but the environment and setting and seeing my favorite mythical beasts in virtual life is nothing short of amazing.

Basically there was not much lore effort put into place because all they need to do is copy and paste and put a sexy VA and thats it.

Grim dawn on the hand have some serious notes to read thay paints a picture and makes you use your brain to imagine. going back to sands, Act 2 TQ is my fave act just for the fact i can run and see my footprints clearly

Continue.

Well, I think it’s more a case of they used the storytellers in TQ to tell people about the various countries history, religion, etc. Not so dissimilar, but also not quite the same impact on the immediate story that GD’s has.

titan quests had good storytelling and ancient mythological atmosphere.

however, i feel that while tq’s lore quality is good, it lacks quantity. the myths of the greeks, egypts, mesopotamians, chinese, celts, and norse aren’t exposed much. tq only scratches the surface of those ancient myths.

i desperately want some chit-chat/drama with the gods/legendary humans when i 1st play tq. but i got disappointed in the end:( .

original tq only has 3 telkine (who doesn’t talk except megalesios’ single quote at the intro), typhon (feels nice chatting with him, no seriously), and zeus (hey, player! you saved earth! gj! now we gods are going to go somewhere far away, and we leave earth to you! ciao!)
immortal throne is slightly better… finally we have some legendary figures like circe, and the trojan heroes that can chat with us. hades and persephone also talk with us (though its a limited interaction). but its not enough.
ragnarok is slightly better than immortal throne, we can chit-chat with many legendary figures of norse myth! the celts are kinda underwhelming though. but its not enough.

i wish tq has gd’s faction system or something similar. our char could devote themselves to a god and receive unique quests/rewards/enemies through that.

btw… tq sands… yes… they’re nice looking. too bad tq doesn’t have a random hazardous sandstorm though. it adds dangers to the desert environment and make the desert slightly more memorable.

Blasphemy!

If fact, while AE was good in some areas and actually fixed some mechanics (poison is finally viable!), it completely butchered the balance in others (80% CDR cap is a bullshit and it ruins tons of fun builds). And then came Ragnarok which butchered the game itself.
Also, you can’t play Soulvizier with AE, which is a complete dealbreaker.

Also, as much as I love GD, TQ had much better bosses with so much more character due to their existing background. Telkines and Typhon had a lot of interesting buildup and their fights were excellent (third Telkine wasn’t as good and memorable though). Also, I love that TQ boss fights were clean with minimal unneccesary effects.
In GD only Krieg is as satisfying, and fighting him actually feels personal. Other campaign bosses (even Cronley) are basically meatbags who throw damage numbers of various flashiness at you, though I’m really glad that Nemesises and Celestials became a thing.

Just compare the epic Olympus level with all that buildup and Typhon showdown to Loghorrean, who is literally a giant vagina or Marcell who is a three giant pieces of green stuff.
