Works for me. Thanks !
@medea
Could you please try the publish here?
<link removed>
Iāve signed the manifest and assembly for that, Iād like to see if that fixes it for you. Thanks!
Soul
Nope, sorry Soul. Same problem. Do you want me to post the error message to see if itās the same?
Sure! I know some people ran into this issue a long time ago, Iāll have to see if I can resolve it without having to get a true paid code signing certificate. Have you tried running the setup.exe as administrator?
Okay, hereās the error message. And Iām running Defiler as administrator.
Interesting. First time I downloaded it, it was only 3kbs. This time it was 10kbs. Itās called Application Manifest, is that whatās itās supposed to be called?
Ahh, noā¦Iāve seen that before, it happens with either certain settings or browser being used and the link that is showing isnāt what youād want.
Rather then worrying about the install button, go ahead and try this direct link to the setup file:
https://tq.soulseekkor.com/apps/gddefiler/publicpublish/setup.exe
Soul
Yeah, that worked. Thanks Soul.
Perfect!
Iāve updated the link I posted and the first page link to point to the setup.exe to avoid that issue in the future!
having the same issue as medea fleecestealer
Edit. went through the posts before tried everything i know. still getting same error.
Even using the direct link to the setup.exe?
yup. tried everything
What anti-virus do you use? I had a helluva time getting this program to work. It kept flagging and stopping the program mid DL and I had to add all kinds of exclusions to even get it to run. Very complicated and I think it might be easier in the future if thereās just a zip of all the necessary files to make it easier to exclude so that AV doesnāt intercept it repeatedly.
avast. and tried turning off av, didnāt work either.
yeah i have a problem too even with the new link
Hereās an error log for you Soul GD Defiler log
Thanks again for continuing to improve and update this: the installer (setup.exe) works fine, but the update does not work with 1.0.7.0 save game files (block mismatch, - cannot read save game, and a whole load of exceptions). I could not find the log file, and I was unable to copy and paste from the error output (the display does not allow that), so I have posted a screenshot instead [ now removed because everything seems to be running fine now, with all issues resolved ].
Further to my last post, this is a bit strange, but clicking on the save game .gdc file avoids the error message and allows the save game to be loaded and edited; plus it avoids the save games (every last one of them, bearing in mind that some installs involve %appdata% saves in addition to those in %homedir%) becoming horribly, and irretrievably, corrupted).
There is a further issue, too: editing any of the save games causes all the quests and game progress to be completely reset. Again, this completely borks every last file, including anything and everything within any of the save directories. - Even deleting the save directory and replacing it with a copy prior to editing the save game file will not restore things to how they were (even with Steam Cloud saves turned off).
this makes no sense to me, as to the original issue, are you using the latest version ? If not, that would explain it

quest progress is not saved in the player.gdc file, blame cloud save for that (I know you said local saves as well, but that I never heard if, so I doubt it)
Yes, I was. - I have since uninstalled it and have managed to re-install it. It is now v2.0.3.0 and is working fine. - Thanks again, Soul.
I am well aware of the fact that quest progress is not saved in the .gdc file, which is why the fact that all the files, including quest progress, got mangled is, or was, so annoying; plus I had cloud saves turned-off specifically to avoid such issues.
I get this error when trying to run the installer. W7, no AV that could be blocking.
āURLDownloadToCacheFile failed with HRESULT ā-2146697208ā

The quest part is strange, as the GD Defiler doesnāt do anything with that data (yet). Glad you got it sorted out with the reinstall though!
