A few unique features of GD Defiler that are still unable to be replicated by experienced modders include…
modify maximum gainable devotion points in game for immersion
remove skill points from masteries without removing the active/passive skills inside them
remove skill points from pre-requisite skills
Right now the only solution is to build a character using GD Defiler through an old version of Grim Dawn (1.1.9.6 or 1.1.9.8) if you manage to find one in some megathread and then load the same character in 1.2.1.2.
This process is irreversible as the character will be permanently unable to be configured using GD Defiler once loaded in 1.2.1.2.
Or just play old version with Grim Internals. Only missing passive buffs and evade.
New version has been released, please take care and backup your characters before using as there have been a great many internal changes to the application…
A HUGE shout out to mamba, without their help this would not have been doable!!!
0.2.5.0 (6/4/2026)
-Added support for Grim Dawn 1.3 file format.
-Temporarily disabled access to TQ characters.
-Fixed ‘Save As’ initial location for both Titan Quest and Grim Dawn.
-Fixed a ton of UI inconsistencies.
-Updated TQ character screen to have parity with the GD character screen.
-Attempt to auto-update on startup.
-ALL preloading is now done on the splash screen ahead of time (including character list).
-Entire splash screen is now clickable to make it easier to continue after preloading is complete.
-Disabled ‘Email Tool’ as it isn’t functional anyway (and hasn’t been for years).
-Fixed incorrect value for Resistances loot filter.
-Fixed not being able to reopen a character that was closed within the same session of the app.
-Fixed character value not being set until you change focus away from numeric up/downs.
-Updated to only show loot filters relevant for the character file version, or to hide it entirely for old characters.
-Improved encrypted check.
-Improved open windows list.
-Set attribute minimums of 50.
Please note that TQ character editing is currently disabled while I rewrite the internals of it to match how I’ve done Grim Dawn, this will take me some time to complete.
I hope so! Unfortunately the tool I used to use (PE Explorer) to try to keep those updated doesn’t really work anymore since everything is 64-bit, and not sure what else functions well enough to get the job done. I’m also not proficient enough in assembly to get too crazy with it…
That said, I hope it will make a return, but supporting Titan Quest files again is my next main goal and potentially a new GD Defiler after that if time permits.
Just put up a new version! As always, make backups before you make changes to your characters.
0.2.5.1 (7/22/2026)
-Updated to allow GD character health/energy to be modified.
-Added calculated display to GD character screen of health/energy.
-Updated to use new custom control for numeric values instead of NumericUpDown.
-Added support for updated GD 1.3 file format.
-Added additional new stats for GD.
Welcome back. I hope everything is going well for you.
I am a little sad you removed the TQ tab, I was hoping you would update that side as well.
Either way, thank you for the update. It is greatly appreciated.
Hello there.
So I take it that due to the new expansion, all stash operations have stopped working? For instance, in GDS I add an item to one of the stash slots and save the stash. I load up the game, check the stash, but the created item isn’t there—everything remains unchanged. When I go back to GDS to check and hit ‘Reload’, the previously created item simply disappears from the stash inside the program.
I assume GDS is GD Stash, if not, ignore the rest…
GD Stash does save the items and assuming you do not have a character in game at the time, GD will ‘see’ that item.
If you do not see it in game and when you load the stash in GDS afterwards and the item is no longer there, then that item was one that gets collected in the material pages of the shared stash by GD.
