You should not be playing the char at the time and the stash should be closed, i.e. you are not talking to the smuggler in game while changing the stash. That is it, but I assume you already do that.
You must be changing files in a different location then. If the game were to use the same files then the files would revert back also in the tool, as the game data overwrites your changes, e.g. with cloud data.
I constantly save my stash while the game is loaded, not once did I have a problem. Just make sure it is not actually opened in game, i.e. you are not talking to the smuggler. Even then, the only thing that happens is that the changes you made in GD Stash are lost.
The issues you are describing sound a lot more like problems you would have when using cloud save. Never lost stash pages there either, only my changes, as with local saves, but I have not used it much and some people have reported issues. Personally I recommend not using cloud save when using the tool, see the documentationâŚ
I just make for fun this build with GD Stash! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQxxBFetKz4&t=2s Soo⌠thx! Great tool, but finally it will ruin your game, after you see and try everything with this tool! :))
Make sure to not use cloud save though, as that is having some issues (not on the tool end, the tool always writes the files back correctly, but cloud save frequently ignores the changes and from reports sometimes even messes them up)
I keep getting an error which simply says: âWrong directoryâ when I try to path the save game directoryâŚis this possibly related to the choice of cloud saves in-game?
Hey so i just wanted to try out this Tool because i am tired of all my mules. Fiddled around a bit then saved my stash. I went ingame to check if it worked now my whole stash is gone Tried looking up in the save game File to see if GDStash made a backup of my Inventory i can only see the tranfer00 file no backup Is my Stash lost now?
When you say the stash is gone you mean it is empty I assume. Are you using cloud save ?
I never had that happen with local saves or with cloud saves (but I do not use cloud save, so I used that a lot lessâŚ). If you have any more details to replicate it, please post them.
I recommend using local saves, I never had any issues with them. With cloud saves changes to the files often are ignored (I assume the game uses the cloud data instead), but I had no issues other than that.

transfer.t00 is the backup, the actual stash is transfer.gst
Copy the .t00 and rename the copy to transfer.gst (this way you still have a backup in case it does not work) to get the old stash back
As mentioned, I recommend using local saves as all issues seem to be with cloud saves only. The tool always writes the files back correctly, any problems come after that and are outside my control.
