[Tool] GD Stash

I bumped up my character level from 63 to 65 in order to use an item. Now the xp bar doesn’t move (but when hovering over, the xp total & xp left until level up do change and reflect killing enemies but the visual bar doesn’t work. Anyone know how to fix?

Edit: Figured it out, i have to bump up the experience to reflect the changed level and now it works

Ah, I haven’t been going to the crafting page, after I learned it has recipes I don’t have.

I keep getting an error telling me that the wrong directory is selected. I am selecting the save directory in the Grim Dawn folder. What am I doing wrong?

Assuming you do have the right directory, make sure you have a transfer.gst / transfer.gsh file in it.

I believe I relaxed that check in one of the more recent versions, so if it now tells you it is the wrong dir, it most likely actually is the wrong dir (i.e. not the dir your save files are in).

Are you using cloud save ?

When saying you use the save dir in the Grim Dawn folder, are we talking about My Documents\My Games\Grim Dawn or the dir GD is installed in ? The saves would be in the former (if you are not using cloud save).

Thx for reply. Unfortunately tried this already though, and when it didnt work, I ran out of ideas and posted here :o

Hi Mamba,

I had used Stash a few versions back, but not for a while. I recently decided to fire it up again, so downloaded the newest version (link from your OP), and the newest Java. However, the first few times I tried to import the database, the entire Stash program froze… now it will complete, but I get an error (trying to attach pic). Also, in the program, I notice that the pulldowns do show my character names, but no items show in any of my stashes.

That you see no items is due to the fact that the GD data import failed.

That is due to you running out of heap space, see the info messages on how to solve this

  • use 64bit Java
  • start the tool via the .bat (and make sure the parh to java.exe matches the one you installed Java under)

Version 1.2.2 released

  • items show set bonuses
  • blueprint export fixed

64 bit Java was the piece that was lacking. Thanks for the tip. It was surprisingly hard to find the correct download, but everything seems to be working now

Please add the ability to change the type of Summoned Ravager. And also the opportunity to cancel the victory over the Avatar to fight him again.

That info is in quest files, not the char save file

Hi:

Coming off kind of dumb here but I’m not having any luck using the search feature. Does searching by item name work? So far I’ve lost 2 items one being a peerless eye of beronath and I’m hoping they are in the database. Thanks for any reply

yes, search by name works, you still need to have the selected the correct item category though, i.e. Amulet in this case

Worst case, search for legendary amulets to check whether it is stored. If you did not store it, that too would explain why you do not find it.

Thx for the reply. So do I select search then amulet, legendary? Cause when I do that I’m getting nothing coming back…

Edit OK I clicked on collection and it worked but something is definitely amiss. I have quite a few of these and they are not showing as in the db. I must be doing something wrong here

works for me…

finds either the items I stored

or all matching ones for crafting

So on the Collection page it is flagged as you having found the item but it does not show up in the search ?

Is the item maybe soulbound ? on the Config page, set the flag for ‘Transfer soulbound items between chars’ and try again.

Thx man your patience is outstanding. Turns out I hadn’t imported the items properly. Wonderful tool btw and thx so much for your hard work making it. I did find the amulet through the search and I can move it to my stash but it’s not showing up in my game. Do I have to restart to get that to happen?

Edit: OK got it just had to “save stash” Thx again for your help. It’s folks like you that make this game so great

Quick question tho: Do I have to save stash everytime I make changes (as in before I leave game) or does the program pick up the changes when it start?

Not sure I understand the question.

If you do not save the changes you made in GD Stash, then the file has not been changed and GD cannot find them.

GD frequently (almost constantly) saves changes, so if you want to see the latest changes made in game in the tool while the tool is open, reload the stash in the tool.

Assuming you use local saves, you do not have to leave GD when making changes to the stash, you just have to make sure you do not have it open in game. Once you open it in game, the changes will immediately be visible.

AH OK think I get it. It is through this that I lost the amulet though. I also lost a mythical sceptre that is not in my db now either.

So basically I can just play as normal, I should not have to worry about saving unless I want to see the changes I’ve made since I started the tool? Does it matter what order I shut things down when I’m leaving the game?

not sure how that would be possible under any scenario.

If you did not save the changes in the tool, the item is still available in game.

If you did save the changes, then the item should be in the tool’s DB, unless you intentionally deleted the item instead of moving it to the DB.

On the other hand, if you saves, there is a backup of your original stash which you can restore to get your lost items back. In the save dir, look for transfer.t## (where ## goes from 00 to 09, with 00 being the most recent backup, 01 the next older one and so forth).
Rename that file back to transfer.gst and you should get your old stash / items back.

yes, if you just want to store items in the tool without ‘losing’ them in game, just copy them over and do not save. Refresh whenever you want the tool to reload the current stash from the disk.

If you want to store them items and make room in the transfer stash, move them to the DB instead of copying and save the file in the tool, then go back to the game.
While doing this the stash has to be closed in game, and you should only do this while using local saves. Cloud save is more problematic and you should only manipulate files while GD is not running.

Does it matter what order I shut things down when I’m leaving the game?

no

Thanks again for your patience and some very good advice here. I will bookmark this page lol. Have a great night! Oh and yes I do not use cloud saves
