Thank you! So after changing everything I can turn cloud save back when I delete the program right?
Never tried that, but I see no reason why not.
Can this or any other program HACK the crucible map so it starts with what map i wantā¦i meanā¦this isā¦ādont want to get banned againā annoyingā¦
Hi, mamba, may you add āFactionā item filter feature??
probably not, I do not see this as a relevant filter criteria. The info which faction an item is from is already displayed, so if you do not want an item because it belongs to the āwrongā faction, you can ignore it
this tool cannot, as that info is not in the save file. This sounds more like something for GDTH, no idea if it can do that though
The crucible map choice mechanic, as far as I know, is located inside the dlc code somewhere. I doubt even a mod could get to it, although I may very well be wrong there. Although the current lack of crucible mods is a hint that I may be right.
I would love a feature where you can load/import into GDStash a character created with Dammittās GD Build Calculator (including the components and augments). Then to transfer all the gear to my own character, quick and easy.
Imagine all the possibilities and the time we would save⦠lol
I would like that too, but it is not possible at the moment.
So, my Cabalist has been very successful at finding swag (none of which is useful to him, however), leading to a dramatic increase in the mule population in my account. Elsewhere it was pointed out that GD Stash would solve my mule problem and indeed - it looks great. However as someone who regularly switches between a desktop and laptop and plays Grim Dawn on both devices, I use the Steam cloud save option and find it very useful. Since cloud saves are not supported by GD Stash, Iām wondering what my options might be to use this with two computers.
The obvious solution would be to sync them through Dropbox or Google Drive or similar, but Iāve been burned by āsimpleā solutions before, particularly when I donāt know all the ins and outs of file saving mechanics in Grim Dawn.
Basically, is there a way to use GD Stash with multiple computers and keep them safely in sync without resorting to āsneaker netā through thumb drives?
Maybe a set of best (and safest) practices people have used? There have to be others who have needed GD Stash convenience along with Steam Cloud functionality.
Searching through mule inventories is getting really tedious, so any help is appreciated. Thanks
For two computers, without cloud saving, youād need to emulate the cloud yourself. Either thumb drives / home network and keep the gdstash database and the grim dawn save folder updated on both. Will be a bit annoying to do manually, but I imagine you can automate this.
This all seemed like a fairly straight-forward process, copy the save directory and export the GD Stash database to the cloud location then copy it to the second computer to keep everything in sync. I realize its not rocket science, but I keep reading about people losing characters, progress, whatever, and it makes me wonder if I am missing something important I should do to keep everything safe. Iāll just make some backups, play around with it, and see what happens.
Thanks for the reply.
the tool does support cloud save, it is cloud save that does not support the tool
You can change chars and stashes that are saved in the cloud, as there is a local copy of those files on your PC, just like they are for local saves, except that they are in a different dir.
The problem is that after the tool has written those files, the changes sometime get ignored by the game and the cloud copy taken and sometimes apparently the stash or char gets corrupted for some unknown reason.
As anything after writing the files is outside my control, there is nothing I can do about that.
People seem to be able to use it reliably when changing the files while GD is not running however.
All of this makes me recommend local saves, as it is just safer and more convenient.

I am not sure about automatic syncing via the cloud on two PCs, but uploading the files to e.g. Google Drive and downloading them onto the other PC from there should not be an issue.
As to syncing GD Stashās items you can either transfer the entire DB, or export the items into a file on one side and import them on the other. This results in a smaller file as most of the DB data is actually GD data.
Duplicates will not be imported again, so you can simply select all items and import them, you do not need to figure out which ones are the new ones.
I completely understand, and Iāve moved to local saves and should be able to keep everything in sync via Google drive or similar. you canāt control what happens after youāre done with the file. Thanks for the explanation and the reply.
Iām not sure I need automatic syncing, per se, but I will likely automate the copy process via some scripting.
In the process of setting all this up a couple of questions came up as part of the import process, and I was hoping you could clarify.
So, Iām unclear as to what exactly is imported during the mass import. The README says:
āGD Stash will then import any shared stash found in this directory and its subdirectories. In addition, GD Stash will list the items of each character found in the import directory.ā
List is the word that confuses me here. are the items in characters inventories imported into the database or not? Some appear to be in there and some are not. I ask because I was looking for a Mutiny revolver with flintcore bolts to level a new Alt.The gun was sitting on the second page of another characterās stash - I knew I had it, I knew where it was but my collection pages lists Mutiny as never having been found. When I load that characterās inventory in GD Stash the the gun shows up just fine. Iām guessing Iām missing something and mass import doesnāt import everything? perhaps my problem is Iāve been using character mules rather than the multiple shared stash method which seems the preferred way.
Iām using 1.2.4b BTW.
Also, what makes an item invalid? as I was importing items I noticed some were listed as invalid. this surprised me as I have never modded the game or played multi-player.
one example I noticed was a zero level Shrewd Novice Tunic of the Flame. A valid prefix and suffix for a novice tunic as far as I can tell - there are other examples as well. I assumed all my items were valid, but apparently not. I donāt want to select all items if I could be opening myself up to potential save game corruption.
Any information you could send my way would be appreciated. Thanks, and thanks for this useful tool and all the hard work that obviously went into it.
all items, whether from the shared stash or a char are listed, you then mark which ones to import and those will be importer when you press the import button.
No items are being imported automatically.

any item violating the rules you set up on the config page wrt affixes, so if you wanted legit affixes only you e.g had a 1h sword with a 2h affix or a ring with an affix that can only drop on boots, it would show up as invalid.
Basically any item that should not be able to drop like that in game today
with emphasis on today. The tables have been changed over the different GD releases, in older versions some items could drop with affixes they would not get any more, yours might be a case like that
There probably is some other stuff to, like the component being for that type of item etc

there will be no corruption, as long as the item and affix exist within the game (which they obviously do), there is no issue, even if the combination could not drop in game
Sorry, I wasnāt clear on the problem. I understand how the import works and had used it with apparent success. The problem is that when I press the āload items from dirā button on the import page, some items in characters inventories are not in the list of items to select and import, yet these same items are available on the character transfer tab when I load that character. Two other examples from the same character are a Slime Bolter and a Cleansed Blade of Elgoloth neither of which shows up in the import list as either a valid or invalid selection. They are also not listed as found items after an import even though they are in character inventories. If I go to the character in the character transfer tab, select the second stash page, and physically highlight the item I am able to copy it to the Database, but this somewhat defeats the purpose of a mass import function.
I do get two alerts during the load procedure; I donāt know if it relates:
File , page 0: item records/creatures/npcs/npcgear/npc_torso002.dbr not found in database
File null, page 0: item records/creatures/npcs/npcgear/npc_torso002.dbr not found in database
Another thing I noticed while I was playing around with the program, and I donāt know if this is related. I knew I had a Mythical Flame Keepers Girdle on a character that didnāt show up in the collection list when I searched for belts. When I searched just for the Keepers of the blaze set it showed up just fine, and then when I went back to search for belts again, it and a number of other belts that werenāt listed previously now appeared on the search results. Again, I donāt know if it relates, but it was unexpected and I thought Iād mention it.
This make perfect sense, as those items are all from pre-AoM and much earlier versions as I had put the game away for a while then came back to it for Ashes of Malmouth. I hadnāt considered item changes and legacy items over so many version might be an issue.
can you upload that char ? I think I see everything, it certainly is not an issue for the specific items you mention.

it should not, but I am not sure how you got that item to drop, npc gear is not gear that can drop

the search always shows the same result, as it always performs the same logic. The one variable being which char you have loaded while performing it, as the result list will only contain soulbound items of that char - at least unless you allow the transfer of soulbound items on the Config page.
So I assume that this is the explanation here.
I should probably just zip up all the characters and send you all of them; Iāll export the current DB and send that as well.
After a mass import, I went back randomly through my mules and started trying to add items to the database from the last page of the muleās individual stash most times the selected items were added rather then notifying me of the duplicate already existing. this only occured on the last page of multi-page stashes i.e. if there were 3 stash tabs, page 1 and 2 were already in and page 3 was not (after a mass import)
In the Import/Export Tab, when I press import items I get
742 items stored in stash
2,195 items already in stash
or if I select all items rather that just valid Items I get .
706 items stored in stash
2,234 items already in stash
(every time even if I close the program and then re-run the import process)
you probably should take a look at it all, but I donāt usually send files on forums like this, whatās the best way to get you the characters?
Iām not even sure what the item is, much less that itās an NPC item, but some of these characters are old, so who knows.
I have the settings as strict, no editing no soulbound transfer etc. The items in question have never been equipt, so they werenāt soulbound.
odd, will check that
I donāt usually send files on forums like this, whatās the best way to get you the characters?
upload the zip to some file hoster (that does not require a user to download) and PM me the URL
The items in question have never been equipt, so they werenāt soulbound.
that is not how soulbound works in GD. Faction items are soulbound, always. Other items become soulbound by adding an enchantment to it (as that is soulbound).
It seems like the import doesnāt include character stashes? Iāve found a couple of items stored in character stashes that have been missed in multiple imports to GDStash.
You can, of course, import those items individually from the character transfer page.
Is this by design? Or a limitation? I always assumed the mass import got everything: character inventories, stashes and shared stash.
