[Tool] GD Stash

Thanks for the update, mamba.

I wanted to ask: would you consider adding a function to tag/bookmark individual items entered into the database? It doesn’t seem to be a common feature request, yet I feel it would be pretty useful as a nice-to-have.

It is not a common request, but it came up before. To me there are several issues with this

  • the UI must allow to tag the item and update it, so far it allows no updates
  • the result list should show the tags, as otherwise they are useless

both of which can be overcome, it is more a matter of effort and whether you allow random texts or just categorizing with different colors where the user has to decide what he wants to mark with green / red / …

I tend towards color-tagging over entering texts as it is easier to display in a narrow column next to the item image.

The one thing that cannot be overcome though is that whenever you remove the item from the tool’s DB and store it in the shared stash, whatever you tagged it with will be lost. This is the main reason why I so far was not interested in adding tags.

I myself would be happy with simple boolean bookmarks, but even so I appreciate the effort involved in fitting anything new into an existing GUI.

Mh, that’s a good point, but wouldn’t it only apply to move-on-transfer? My GDStash is set to copy on transfer, which unless I’m mistaken should be the default setting. Copy actually being the default mode of transfer would make the argument for tags a bit more palatable.

Thank you for the quick response. You were right. For some reason the extract application had extracted everything into the base directory despite the “Use folder name” option being enabled. I duplicated that issue and then switched extract methods and all is good.

yes, only on move

The quest item, Mummified skin of Korvaak, cannot be found by GD Stash. I found the item, put it in my inventory, paused the game, then started GDS. There was just a blank space instead.

Import the GD data again, it shows up for me when I search it under Quest Items. Make sure you are on the latest version of GD Stash.

GDStash will not load at all. It just gets stuck in a loading loop and nothing ever happens.

I fixed it. It was a database error.

@mamba Does this tool effect the creation of the player.gdc.bak file. Curious as someone seems to be using this (guessing from the player.g0x files) and has no player.gdc.bak, from their save folder image do you know if this is your tool and if so any suggestion beyond what I’ve suggested to help them?

No, GD is not aware of GDS’s existence and always creates .bak files, regardless of whether you have GDS installed or not.

GDS does not hook into GD at all, unlike some other tools.

CHeers for the info and helping in the other thread.

I have a semi-functional GDstash, mostly everything works except for my one level 100 character’s devotion setup. It keeps defaulting to a setup I used at level 50 where I had about 30 devotion points used. I keep using Tonic of Clarity to reset the points, then I fill them in, but no matter what I do it keeps resetting to the old devotion arrangement. How do I edit my devotions so GDstash doesn’t keep doing this?

I’ve tried saving, reloading, quitting and restarting, the usual strategies. Not sure how to fix my devotions (semi)permanently with this program, or how to get GDstash to recognize certain changes to the character I’ve made in the actual game

Help pls

the tool reads whatever is stored in the save file, there is no way for it to ‘make something up’. I assume you changed a different save file (local vs cloud).

I’ve updated to the newest version of Grim Dawn Stash, but I’ve lost all my previous stuff from the stash. I still have the database files from the previous version. Send help?

Something similar happened to me earlier. GDSTASH should have made backups of your previous stash which are located in your save location. The backups end in .t00 - .t09 for softcore stashes. Copy your most backup to transfer.gst - and make a backup for the original transfer.gst just in case.

I had to do this several times before it worked because the cloud backup kept overwriting my stash with an empty one. Best of luck!

tks for your work
just have an question: can I edit the level requirement of the items ?:stuck_out_tongue:

No. The tool doesn’t edit items, it only creates them or stores existing items.

Don’t mind me asking, but how do you copy? Do you just open it in notepad and paste whatever’s in the backup to the .gst file? Because if that is the case, I did it and I still have a significant lack in the number of items that should belong in the stash…

Also, I meant the items that i had stored inside the DB of Grim Dawn Stash - I cannot retrieve those items…

Thanks for your help!!

Your database is not affected by you updating the tool, so updating will have no impact at all on the items you collected.

When you say you still have the previous DB files, what files are you talking about ? Did you delete them and then have the tool create a new DB during the upgrade ? That would explain why the new DB contains no items…
