[Tool] GD Stash

Oh, I see, I thought the word was just an in-game descriptor like “tarnished” or “scrapmetal” lol. It actually has meta meaning.

if an item does not appear in any tables that assigns affixes, then no affixes are offered for you to choose from (unless you allow all affixes on all items). There can be different reasons for this, e.g. legendary items or in this case, obsolete items that can no longer drop

works for me, did you copy the character to save\main ? Does it show up on the load screen and you cannot select it, or does it not show up at all? If it shows up but you cannot select it in GD, then chances are it uses a class that GD does not ‘know’

Thank you for the further clarification, Mamba. It was just my dumb ARPG brain going “why loot no drop?”
Another issue that I forgot to bring up, which is application breaking:
So, I have had to restart my computer after closing the FIRST instance of GDstash.exe OR GDstash.jar
I tested with solely using the .bat file, and I could open and reclose GDstash app as many times as I liked.
When opening the .bat file after closing the 1st .exe/.jar instance, the command window prompt appears, and for a split second (I was able to get a screen capture with the right reflexes), the error is returned and then the window closes.
Here it is:

Hopefully this is enough to identify the cause.
I have tried re-extracting the ZIP files from the download, but that hasn’t changed anything.
I have also extracted DPYes files to the root directory, but I’m just throwing that in just in case. No other mods were added to my Grim Dawn install.

P.S. I checked ModDb if anyone posted “initializing” “database” type of errors, didn’t find any, hadn’t checked here as of writing, will do so now
p.s.s. okay nope

there is nothing application breaking here, you have a running instance of GD Stash, so there already is a connection to its DB, which prevents a second instance from connecting to the DB.

No need to restart, use the open instance, I assume you minimized it to the tray instead of closing it. Check your settings

Oh geez I thought I unchecked that!
God I always hate that “”“feature”“” whenever it rears its ugly head.

Not a fan either, but some people asked for it, so…

Question regarding Barrowholm. Found out the hard way that going friendly with them on one difficulty does not allow you to do their quests and fight the Ravager on others. Was hostile, went back to Elite to befriend them, went back to Ultimate thinking I could do Ravager now and sadly, they all just have generic dialogues and don’t give any quests. Furthermore, found out that Elite Ravager does not drop the purple version of his helmet, which I had assumed was the case until now…

Is there a way in GD Stash to achieve this? Flip Barrowholm into a state where their quests are doable? It allows reputation manipulation, but there is still the block that even if you flip it, on the difficulty you picked hostile with them, they don’t give any quests.

No, I never looked into the quest format.

All quests are in quests.gdd for each difficulty, which is why your status in one difficulty have no impact on the others. You could delete the file, thereby losing all progress in that difficulty, or copy it from one difficulty to another, thereby having the same quest state in both difficulties.

I am surprised that different relations across difficulties would result in some neutral state when it comes to quests, I would have expected them to be based on your relation in the difficulty only. Are you sure about that? If so, copying the file from one difficulty to another should solve that, make sure to make a backup first though.

Yep. Was hostile on Veteran and Ultimate, wanted to go friendly to fight Ravager, so went back to Elite only to find out it was only possible to get to him on Elite.

On Ultimate and Veteran Scorv is just standing there in his house and only ever says this:

I honestly wouldn’t mind re-running the campaign. The character is finished and the last thing I wanted to do was fight the Celestials (only have Ravager and Crate left). If I delete my Ultimate progress, will it keep the “integrity” of my character? Will it be safe from receiving extra skill/attribute points from Kasparov and similar quests? Not sure if that is stored on the character itself, or in the quests.

no, you will receive those again

Well, should be manageable by just not spending those points/removing them later in GDStash.

I assume I should also delete the “conversations.gdd” if I want to do a proper reset?

No idea, back it up, remove it and find out

Yet another Transfer stash / Steam challenge. I have seen many of the older comments here regarding editing the TS while in-game, and the fact that it’s not officially supported when using cloud saves.

TLDR: I can edit the local copy of the transfer stash file with the tool, can see the file update (modified date changes) but no in-game stash changes appear. This is with the stash closed.

I have started a thread on reddit here detailing my current attempts at doing this (with no success). Cross-posted below. Any help would be appreciated.

The title kinda says it all LOL.

Trying to edit my transfer stash with GD Stash while the game is running. I have steam cloud saves enabled both in-game and in the steam client. I know this isn’t supported, though searching seems to indicate people have had success doing this.

Config info as follows:

Steam on Linux (Fedora)
Game directory: /home/[username]/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Grim Dawn
Save directory: /home/[username]/.local/share/Steam/userdata/13772542/219990/remote/save

I get some errors loading the game database, however I can load my transfer stash, edit it by placing an item in it, and save it. The modified date on transfer.bst updates accordingly. However in-game the stash doesn’t update at all. If I update the stash in-game, the same transfer.bst file modified date updates.

I have tried copying all the save files to the non-cloud location, reconfiguring the tool to point to that, edit the file, then copy it manually back over the cloud version. Still no luck.

/home/[username]/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Grim Dawn/save

I know I could probably exit the game, edit, and make this work however I am in a situation where I REALLY don’t want to exit the active game, as I will lose a large number of uncollected items - one of which I am farming.

Any suggestions/things to try that I may be missing? Or am I SOOL?

[EDIT] I can actually see stash updates in GD Edit if I make changes to it in-game and hit “reload”. So it’s clearly pointing to the correct file and locations…

you should not use cloud save and GD Stash together at all. Cloud save does not reliably take the local file (the one you are editing) so your changes might get lost.

When using local saves, you can edit the transfer stash as long as you do not have it open in game.

I saw that last year you mentioned it was possible to remove a class/mastery without removing the skills (mentioned in GD Defiler topic). Is this still possible, and if so, how would one go about doing it? I’ve tried fiddling around with it but always end up removing the skills when removing the class.

It’s still possible, do not press the X button to remove the mastery, that removes the skills along with the mastery. Set the points in the mastery to 0 instead

Great, thanks so much. I’ll give that a shot.
