Hi again Mamba. Are you also saying that the character details page - the one that displays name, sex, experience, gold, attribute points, etc will not work correctly for a character that is playing Grimmer, Grimmest? Updating attribute points within GD Stash, for instance, will not take effect when a new game session is opened?
There currently are two issues with it for mod-chars
the tool will not show them at all in the drop-down as they are not in the dir it is checking (it only checks save/main for chars so far)
the page is hard coded, eg the rifts and shrines are not really taken from the database.arz (and right now I would not know how to do that either, as I do not know where to find the GUID that identifies them in the save file in the database.arz)
The latter is only a problem for total conversion mods or ones that add areas to the vanilla game, so not for Grimmest
The former is what is keeping you from loading them. If they were loaded, you could use them fully however (right now the only way would be to copy them to save/main, so they ābecome visibleā to the tool)
If anyone knows where to find the GUIDs that identify shrines and rifts, let me know
Is there any reason why I would not want to copy my character (I only have 1) to save/main?
Bearing in mind how inexperience and lacking in confidence I am regarding changing files and essentially actioning any tasks of this nature, do you think it may be in my best interests to hold off from playing Grimmer, Grimmest till this process becomes easier/more accessible?
not really, you just have to keep copying it back and forth as GD Stash only looks in save/main for now while GD only uses mod chars from save/user I believe

only you can answer that, but the new release will not be very soon. You could also just ignore the char for now and just use the mod stash.
If you want to change the char frequently and are uncomfortable with cooying its dir around it might be better to wait - or overcome that fear as there really is nothing to worry about, it is just like copying any other files around You cannot ruin your main char by doing so, at most you can forget copying it in and not see it or moving it back and not see the changes you made, either one is easily addressed, just make sure you move it back right after changing it / before playing it again as otherwise you will either lose those changes (and have to make them again, which should be easy) or the progress you made
EDIT: actually the tool looks for the chars relative to where the stash is, ie a main subdir of the dir you specified for the save dir, so you will not even copy the mod char to where the main campaign ones are, so no risk messing those up at all, you still will need to do the copying however
OK, so letās say I endeavour to play Grimmer, Grimmest tonight with GD Stash. Can you please let me know what steps I need to take in order to set it up correctly. Iāll start the step by step offā¦
Download 2nd instance of GD Stash.
(This is where you pitch in, Mamba ;))
Where do I point the installation, save game and ARZ extraction directories to?
Letās say I will, for the time being, exclusively be playing the Grimmer, Grimmest character and will not be interacting with the Vanilla character. Do I still need to do this chop and change you refer to?
Again, I really appreciate your help with this. I really want to play Grimmer, Grimmest but I also really want to continue using your amazing tool!
Create a new dir, place the zip file in it and extract it
[li]Run the tool to set it up[/li][LIST]
Installation dir: same as for vanilla, i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn (as none of the modās database.arz changes are relevant for the tool, this is the easiest way)
This should get you setup and allow you to see the mod stash
If you want to change the mod char you will need to copy it back and forth between My Games\Grim Dawn\save\grimmest\main (you will have to create the main subdir first) to change it and My Games\Grim Dawn\save\user to play it - until I actually add some level of mod support to the tool
Thank you so much for providing that information, Mamba. I have always and continue to seriously appreciate your incredibly positive influence and contributions to these forums.
Yup I figured that out before I read it but I should respond. I can craft into mod stashes. Super helpful. This will help me and ceno a good deal in the future.
Whether itās through GD stash or the deletion of a file - do you know of a way to wipe the games data of all the blueprints that I have collected?
With the start of this new character, I wanted to begin with a completely clean slate. I deleted all the items that GD stash had compiled but I noticed when checking the Devils Crossing Quartermaster that the game recognised me as having previously purchased the Gunslingers Talisman. Consequently, I assume that all my previously collected Blueprints will still be stored.
This can be done with a game session open, yes? Similar to backing up a save folder - the deletion of the formulas will be reflected in game in real time?
I apologize if this has been answered already, but I didnāt feel like sorting through 100+ pages of replies. But every time I try to import the database, I always get this error. What am I doing wrong?
I would really like to see this implemented, as well.
I am not aware as to how many one-shot chests there now are in Grim Dawn and it would be a huge quality of life improvement to see a list with checkboxās - similar to the Rift Portal lists, that get ticked each time the player opens a one-shot chest.
reading the included documentation (config) or FAQ would also answer that
But every time I try to import the database, I always get this error. What am I doing wrong?
you probably are using a 32bit JVM, if you are, switch to 64bit. If you already use a 64bit VM, see the documentation on how to increase the heap size.
If you are on a 32bit Windows and therefore cannot use a 64bit VM, get the compiled Windows executable instead
This is probably something stupid but I can not manage to make it work.
I did the whole config, pointing to the good directories, using Java 64bits and I still got an issue when trying to interact with the app.
I could give more details but just to begin, did someone experience this kind of error screen before ?
