Link updated!
Is there any chance the decompiler can be improved to remember the path mesh of the level files. Has anyone tested to see if the auto generated path mesh is sufficient to not impede gameplay with pathing bugs?
Since this tool has not been updated for a long time, it is no longer applicable to GD 1.2.x.x
Now upload a map decompiler program improved by Chinese players (狐狸爱葡萄) based on the original work for mod enthusiasts to try.

Hi Grim Dawn devs, is there any chance you could support/create a Map Decompiler for the upcoming FOA expansion? The fact that every update seem to break the existing tools is frustrating, and modding/expanding the world of Cairn is what many modders are looking for. Cheers and thanks for an amazing game.
Do you happen to know if there’s any new tool?
Or do you know who made the new tool?
Uh, the original developer is the poster of this thread, the author of GI.
Is this tool no longer working? I haven’t used it recently. If there are any problems, I can contact the person who modified it.
The following is the documentation included with the original work.
A Grim Dawn MAP decompiler
based on p0a's Map Decompiler for TQ:IT made in the year 2008!
CLI-Usage: MapDecomp [pathto]world001.map world001.wrl
or open the file MapDecompWorld001.bat with an texteditor,
change the path to where your world001.map is located, save the file and execute it.
Then copy the created files world001.wrl and world001.sd to \Grim Dawn\mods\...yourmod_folder\source\maps.
The level files goes to \Grim Dawn\mods\...yourmod_folder\source\levels.
I do not recommend to use "Rebuild All Pathing" and "Rebuild All Maps"
in the world editor with these original level files.
The editor will crash! (Too many files involved or a memory leak, idk)
Workaround: In the Layout-View drag a box with the mouse around 10-20 Tiles or more
and then use "Rebuild Selected Pathing" and "Rebuild Selected Maps".
Kudos to p0a for his amazing map decompiler for TQ:IT and
to Chris, who showed me, how to save the Mini-Map images.
Regards,
GlockenGerda

I just tried version 1.3.0.0, and the map decompilation is still working.
