Hi all - I’ve just bought the game, and I’m a bit overwhelmed with the amount of builds and possibilities. Could someone suggest an easy to follow guide that pretty much tells me exactly what to do! I’m not lazy, I just need a starting point. I’ve heard good things about Vitality Caster perhaps?
Thanks in advance
So, do you want us to give you tips on which class to pick as first character or on how to raise a new toon in general?
Well if you’re gonna be a vitality caster, you’re gonna want Occultist.
Pair it with Arcanist maybe?
Occultist is the one class I haven’t played fully yet so can’t advise too much.
The game is more open-ended that say, Titan Quest was, so pick the class which looks most appealing and take it from there.
Just be careful with statpoints, most builds want to go majority of points in Physique as health, DA and health regen are pretty important in this game
You need to figure out how the game works first before you can actually follow any build
Just play some new characters for a couple of hours and trash them later. Then you will understand the build guide naturally
If you’d like a highly detailed, step-by-step guide to a first character, then as long as you don’t mind playing a summoner you can look through the table of contents in post 1 of the thread linked below, then jump in and start reading and following that guide.
Pets on Fire (click here for link to thread)
You could just jump to post 17 and get started on playing the game by following the suggested build order. But, even if you do, it’s probably still helpful to at some point start at post 1 and move forward.
As one caveat, the thread above is still a work-in-progress because Pets on Fire hasn’t quite finished up all of her travels.

this one is easy to level up and to gear up, physical dmg build so you wont need very specific items to make it work at high level.
just max warcry/breaking moral and cadence line with curse of frailty and you have it, getting kraken devotion as soon as possible.
hello Jeremy Beadle,
and welcome to the forum and grim dawn
the first thing i would recommend is play the game yourself to get an idea of how the mechanics work etc or ask around on the forum
you can always look through the build compendium
