Transparent Map Overlay

There needs to be an option for a transparent map overlay across the screen. I can’t be the only one that is hitting the main map button every 30 feet to get a good idea where i want to go on these maps that snake around so much. Like if there is something that could be added to a game that could save someone from pressing a button a thousand times, its probably a good idea to put it in.

I was actually just thinking about that today.

I thought. hmm i wish it were tranparant. but my other thought was i actually like it like it is. its like puling out a map and having to look at it in real life. you obscure your view with a shape.

maybe if we could move the map around the screen. drag it down to get more top space. etc etc.

No thanks, not for me. I like it just the way it is. Still, if it’s an option to use or not maybe, definitely wouldn’t want it as the only way to see the map. That feature in D2 drove me crazy, most stupid idea ever. Anyway, once you’ve played a few times you know where you are pretty much so don’t need the map very often. Plus this has been mentioned several times over the years and hasn’t happened.

Moist, early on in development the map could be moved. It’s default position was at the bottom right of the screen, but you had the option of moving it to the position it’s at now. But it was decided to anchor it at the top later on.

You can make the map bigger if you wish or turn it off completely. From the Game Guide:

“The compass map is a lens view of the local map, showing only what is near you. The map is anchored to the top right of the screen, but can be toggled three different ways using the button located on the right of the Quickbar: small, large and off.”

Some games have an opacity slider for their map. It would be a nice feature but I probably wouldn’t use it much. I’m all for a full-screen option though.

And the option to zoom out a little further on the mini-map. I use the “big” mini-map size and if I could zoom out some more I could just rely on that most of the time.
