I think you may have gone too far with the shorter regrowth time in the update. I keep clearing the same trees over and over again. Pretty annoying. Aren’t they supposed to disappear permanently when you choose “delete”?
For me I wiped out all of the trees on the map.
Had to buy wood from traders.
They did not grow back for a couple of years and then just a few, They really need to add sustainability to the tree harvesters.
My work camp with 2 workers is providing constant flow of wood and trees regrow just in time. As for clearing place off trees I haven’t seen issue with this. After wiping out an area clear it took several years for first trees to show up.
Ok. I might just be real slow then. Seemed fast to me.
Work camp should provide a constant non micromanaged stream which it does now.
I like
If it feels to easy try a less fertile map?
It’s not that it’s too easy. I was trying to build a fortress on a hill. Had to do a lot of flattening. Took forever. The trees kept growing back👍
Pretty much from what I’ve read from others and even something the devs said in the recent patch notes… trees regrow when other trees are present. So try not clear cutting everything in sight. Leave a few full grown trees to seed others to regrow.
Omg🤦🏽♂️
I do clear every branch of it. Ima start leaving the bushes to keep they coming back faster next time.
Not bushes. Strip clear, as in stripes. So if you have a large forest, just cut a path leaving a thin row of trees between cuts. Maybe 3 grids wide, then cut 6 grids wide. Seems trees grow back faster if there are ones close by. Which is something the dev said in the patch notes, if not intentionally…
Adjustments to tree resources, including increased tree regrowth and maturation speed. Note: decoration trees do not spread new trees.
Which reads to me as if regular trees DO spread new trees. Which is something people had speculated and I seemed to have noticed. When I clear cut everything, it takes forever to come back. When I did patches, it would come back pretty fast.
The Work camps Strip clear.
Even with the setting for only cutting the matured trees.
I find coming back to them after I set them up a while later and there is a circle completely or almost completely clean.
The only way I have found to keep some trees is to move the work zones non-stop.
I don’t have the interest in micromanaging it like that.
There are other things I need to take care of and work on/plan.
You can still leave some trees between the new circles. By the time you cycle back around it should have regrown.
yeh the work camps (especially full ones) completely strip the forests and the regrowth in 7.5 is slow when this happens
Because the wood is really not enough in the later stages,I even think it’s time to increase the probability that a merchant will sell wood
I wasn’t really pleased with work camps, so I decided to set up wood lots. I marked off an area between my industrial/commercial core and my housing. Not only does this provide a large enough area, after years of development, but it also keeps the industrial and commercial establishments from affecting the desirability of the housing. I planted birch, maple, spruce, and oak. I quickly discovered that the spruces grow way too slowly (after three or four game-years, their yield was still only 2), the maple and birch grow at a moderate rate (after three of four game-years, their yield was 3 or 4), and that the oaks are the fastest-growing (after 2 or 3 game-years, their yield is 7). I have gone to pretty much planting oaks, with some maple and birch, and have just ignored spruce. I harvest the most mature trees and replant. Now, there are some difficulties with this plan. Planting costs 1 gold bar per tree, so when gold is low, I don’t get to use my wood lots much, Some see this as too much work, but it provides me, once I get the gold issue settled by regular sales at the trading post, with more wood more quickly than the work camps. It also really requires a high number of laborers. Again, this becomes much easier once enough settlers have arrived to provide a high number of laborers. I prefer to make my wood lots rather than use work camps.
The question here is why don’t decoration trees spread new growth? How they so different from trees in the wild. It’s not going to break the game having deco trees act like real ones and provides some security of resource without too much management, esp. late game.
From my tests. Tree can spread up to 3 saplings on the squares next to it if there’s space. It goes faster if there are other trees in range of 4 squares.
I mentioned before adding shortcuts to planting trees, which can save a lot of operations, and I agree with your approach, but I don’t want to click one tree at a time
Do bushes help or hurt tree regrowth?
Yes, on my woodlots, I see tiny little trees sprouting up among the more mature ones not yet harvested.
