Hey guys, I’m trying to make a blades of wrath build and I was thinking about using the trickster. I figure binding BoW to savagery’s, with savagery bonus to offensive ability, would be pretty ideal for proccing it. Then having nightblade skills to benefit from the rest of the pierce build would flesh it out. Thoughts?
Blades of Wrath are meh, they are not bad but not worth building around. It’s more of a supplementary skill. If you want a build based around piercing and procs, run a Blademaster. If you want a Trickster, bleeding or lightning is more effective.
Well this is depressing. I don’t want to restart my Trickster who is level 32, but I also wanted to do a piercing build. I have a bleeding Conjurer already so I didn’t want to do bleeding again. I was thinking of doing Piercing and Cold damage with Blade Burst. But I know Shaman has nothing that benefits that in any way compared to Arcanist or Soldier.
Maybe I could do some sort of lightning based build though, I don’t have that.
well shit, my build is like pierce/bleed tanky trickster, im working towards huntress and then unknown soldier. I thought blades would be good aoe for clear. why blademaster for pierce and procs, doesn’t cadence just override anything on its proc?
KoalaeiO and I got pretty far theorycrafting a lightning based Savagery Trickster. KoalaeiO even uploaded a .Gif displaying the effects of dual weilding his preferred epic. I haven’t really had the time to play it yet though.
In any case, you’ll find the discussion on the last two pages of this thread.
Which is why you don’t use Cadence…
This is how a piercing Blademsater works, it’s pretty silly:
As for lightning trickster, I’m working on one right now just to try it out, but it’s probably going to be a weaker version of lightning Saboteur/Elementalist.
Bleeding Trickster does work, but it’s a very boring character to play. Poison Witch Hunter is still the king of dot-based melee builds.
By all means, prove me wrong, I would love to see a really great Trickster since it seems pretty weak compared to other class combinations.
Doesn’t seem like it would be all that much fun to me. That’s my personal opinion though. I’m also not speaking from experience, just by looking at the skills.
I was toying with the idea of doing Blade Burst, Savagery for default attack and the rest of Shaman will be Heart of the Wild. Then Shadow strike for mobility plus a few points in each passive for added damage. Pneumatic for healing and the rest of the skills would be aimed towards increasing cold damage and lowering defenses. But I have to look at it more. Test it out and stuff, see how it works.
+1 to what cash said
Blade Burst is pretty damn underwhelming in my book and I think others would agree. Not sure I’ve seen a single build on here with blade burst maxed out since they reworked it. You could do a piercing trickster, but honestly it’d just be a worse version of a blademaster. It would function almost exactly the same, but just be worse. I used to have a lightning trickster and it was pretty decent, though in the end in just felt like a weaker/less fun blademaster/saboteur. Definitely a doable build though
Well I will see what I can make work. I don’t care if it works as well as other builds, I just want to have fun while doing it.
My trickster is bleed-based atm and it is not boring, but very fun. Grasping Vines with Rend is awesome CC AOE massive bleed application which kills hordes of monsters out of screen. Still this trickster can be used to inflict piercing/phys damage because of Savagery/Primal (even ranged if you wish) or SS and other melee skills of NB.
