What do you like to do with the resources you find shortly after arriving in Fort Ikon? You have a choice between Homestead and the Legion? One or the other you get reputation for and the other one you lose reputation.
I chose homestead this time because I will be closer to buying augments from them (I think) whereas the Legion is a long way (reputation) to go in any case. Probably doesn’t matter too much either way just curious what other people think of.

From a story standpoint, you’ve basically cleared the area around Homestead, helped reinforce the area with various quests and with good reputation with the Necromancers/Kymon’s Vigil they will even send units to help out around the area.
You’d think they’d have enough supplies if things took a turn for the worse, considering how many vendors there are in there.
From a more practical standpoint, it’s all about the long term. Getting Black Legion to Revered takes a long time so every little bit helps.
Also, getting Revered with Homestead is extremely easy. You’ll encounter a LOT of beasts while just doing the campaign (especially quests like the Hidden Path) and you’ll be Revered as early as Act 1 elite if you use reputation-enhancing items starting early normal. That’s earlier than the time you reach level 70 (assuming you just kept playing the main campaign) - there’s really no point unlocking augments you can’t use anyway.
