Turtle Conspiracy

First off, I SWEAR I’M NOT CRAZY!

Second, does anyone remember The Overlord from Titan Quest? The little turtle that dropped from Hades which opened the secret passage, yeah that one. Well ever since I started playing Grim Dawn four years ago this has been bugging me.

I struggle to think of what else that turtle symbol could possibly reference other then The Overlord. I mean unless Arthur Bruno has a pet turtle in which case, boy does this post make me look stupid!

Anyway what do you think about this? Is it a reference, easter egg, pet turtle, subliminal messaging by the developers to get us to adopt turtles!? Or could it be… an as of yet undiscovered secret? You decide!

Tangent: Warden Arthur Bruno? I had no idea Crate employees viewed their founder as a metaphorical prison warden for their company. :pensive:

Again I’m not crazy, I went to a shrink.

probably some crate member leaving turtles around just for lulz. something like “TURTLE MASTER WAS HERE”.

i’m pretty sure it doesn’t refer to the questionable power of turtle constellation.

I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility to think it could be The Overlord from Titan Quest considering both games were made by the same people. Crate employees worked for Iron Lore entertainment, at least before the company went down the drain.

There were plenty of turtles to be found in TQ, not just the Overlord. And Arthur was Warden at the prison long before most of the team joined Crate. There’s even been a thread similar to this one here, but I haven’t managed to find it.

Maybe some of Iron Lore/Crate member(s) is/are a huge TMNT fan.

That would be one hell of a twist

I remember a story of a pond with turtles in front of the ILE office, where the TQ game devs spent their breaks and got the idea of adding turtles to the game. I think it was Grava, who told it, but I cannot seem to find it…

Okay so worst case scenario it’s a Crate employee getting nostalgic about the good ol’ days at Iron Lore, but… what if it’s more then that?

I miss this spitting bastard…

Just play TQ again and you don’t have to miss it at all.

They took forever to kill (especially if you shot arrows at them with bows or traps)…
Maybe the meaning is that :crate: is resistant / sturdy.

The problem is at the moment I’m sort of burn out playing too much ARPG from MedianXL to TQ and finally to GD in the past 5 years . Only GD I occasionally replaying back and forth. I will return to TQ sometime in the future (can’t get enough of it act 1-3 adventure), especially I want to try that Soulvizier AERA mod as it may hook me back to TQ :slightly_smiling_face:.

On topic about turtle, the Tortoise constellation states it represents fortitude and unyielding dedication. Quite similar with the current :crate: position, it could actually be :crate: work ethos all this years.

it also states that at 40% they will absorb anything

RIP my Pierce and Poison Assassin :upside_down_face:

I made a mistake starting with Defense mastery for my first char. That Megara Coast was a nightmare to clear, was quaffing them health pots non-stop… =)

There are so many more turtles than you know… Even textures of creatures and armor have turtles embedded into them somewhere, most in places you can’t see but some in obvious places. In the IT expansion, there are some basic mage armors you can buy from the shops that have little emblems that you can’t really make out… but if you try hard enough you might see the emblem is actually a turtle.

So it IS a conspiracy, I knew it!

Well, I was talking about Titan Quest, I don’t think there’s any in GD. In TQ it was almost every single texture, in GD I haven’t found any hidden turtles.

Except for the one that started this thread.

wow, so turtles have contributed to the development of TQ by soothing the souls of TQ Devs in their breaks. cool stuff.

wait, that means… indirectly at least… turtles have also helped with gd’s development due to their significance to TQ devs-turned into-Crate devs! turtle set/secret boss in gd when?

Few people know, but “% slow target” splits to 3 icons:

I thought this was about a conspiracy of the devs purposely making the Turtle devotion one of the worst in the game. :scorv:
