Hi, i started playing Grim Dawn not so long ago with pure demolitionist (level 58 so far), but i wanted to make a second character - warder and i was wondering if there is a way to handle a two-handed melee weapon with shield because i really want to have masteries that are good with shields ( like Blitz for mobility ) and i also want the Brute Force mini tree from Shaman.
So, are there some devotions, blueprints, equipments that will allow me being armed with two-handed melee weapon with shield ?
No, nothing in game grants this ability because itās not possible to wield 2H weapons with shields or DW 2H weapons in this game. If you want to use shields, your stuck with 1H weapons. If you want Brute Force and the other 2H Shaman abilities to proc, youāre stuck using one 2H weapon. You can always put points in both and weapon swap but you canāt use both at the same time.
Although, iām not gonna lie, iām kinda disappointed. I expected at least the Soldier to have some equipment that allowed that (like there are equipments that allow double wielding two 1-h ranged weapons).
Itās quite logical, that two-handed weapon occupies both hand slots, so shield/offhand cant be used with itā¦
And if it can be used with shield, itās one-handed weapon thenā¦
Well in that case there would be no reason to ever not use a 2h/shield then, and then 1h/shield would be obsolete. And then would our characters have 3h?
I mean, the ability to wield 2h weapons in one hand, usually with some kind of penalty, is hardly unheard of. Iāve seen it in plenty of different games, off the top of my head thereās the Diablo 2 Barbarian, the Diablo 3 Crusader, some support skills in the Final Fantasy Tactics games, the 5-point heavy weapons perk in Legend of Grimrock 2ā¦itās just a nice ācool factorā sort of thing to hold a huge axe or something in one hand. I donāt really mind that itās not in this game, but I wouldnāt complain about seeing it added either.
Well, I was about to nerd out and drop some facts on yoā asses and mention the long sword a.k.a. bastard sword, hand-and-a-half sword, claidheamh mòr (which is Gealige or Irish and where the word claymore comes from), langes/kurzes schwert, then realised this is a game not real life and like people said it would break the game.
Oh well, back to SoT runs and casual Moosi slaying.
