My character was in Elite before installing the expansion. I now have 2 save files in the ‘main’ subdirectory for the same character and apparently I need them both. Does anybody know that if you start with a new character while the expansion is already installed, do you only end up with 1 save file, even after starting the new content? I back up my characters religiously and am curious. Thanks.
The files that begin with two underscores ( __ ) at the beginning of the folder name are the backups for the vanilla Grim Dawn (no AoM). You will need those only if you want to play in vanilla Grim Dawn. Otherwise, you can back them up and archive them somewhere else.
The folders with one underscore ( _ ) at the beginning of the folder name are the AoM converted characters which you need to play GD AoM.
If you created a character with AoM installed, then you will only have one folder with the character’s name.
