Is it worth dumping materials into Etram Fald for random legendaries? Eight hearts seems like a lot.

It is a gamble, but at least you will get a guaranteed legendary, and you even can choose the item type. So yeah, in my opinion, worth it.

Also: the smith in The Necropolis will convert other legendary crafting mats into Ancient Hearts, so you don´t really farm for hearts, just do boss runs and so on.

My toon is level 62…does that impact the “drop” chance, or can I get any legendary of the given type?

As far as I know you can only get legendary gear up to your level. So in your case, I´d rather wait until level 75, unless you want to fish for level 50-65 legs.

(If you use the smith before you are level 50, you´ll just get an epic, so don´t.)
