I was just at Staunton mine for some Cronley Gang infamy points PLUS the nice bonus of some Dynamite drops.
Just prior to entering the mines, I was just ordering my inventory and noted that I have exactly 1 (ONE) dynamite in it.
So I entered the mines and cleared them quick enough, meanwhile picking up like 4-5 (four or five) dynamite sticks. I am CERTAIN of this. In fact, to think of it, they might have been even MORE than that, but certainly not LESS.
So I exit the mines and open up my inventory to tally up my loot (hadn’t done so since before entering the mines) and… … I see that I have exactly 3 (THREE) Dynamite total !!
Like… No way !! O_o
No, I didn’t miscount or get confused, because this happened to me like 4 days ago or so* … …and it was THEN that I thought I got confused / miscounted and brushed it off as MY error at the time …
…Well… NOW I know FOR SURE that there’s some Вuggy stuff going about with Dynamite !!
Seems like pretty huge matter to me, so please spread at will !!
P.S. Not sure whether the previous time was also at Staunton mine or at one of the other popular Dyna-farming locations (i.e. Hannefy mine, Twin Falls + Arkovian Docks, Cronley’s Hideout etc.)
(edit)
P.P.S. For what it’s worth, I think I experienced the same issue with Aether Crystals and Shards when I was farming Immolation / Conflagration / Valbury, but cannot be as ABSOLUTELY certain as with the case with Dynamite…
Recently I’ve been busy and haven’t had time for GD as much as I’d like, but when I DO have time, I’ll record a video of this happening ASAP and post it here for proof.
is quite a lot from Staunton Mine; there is only 1 fixed spawn dynamite
and while it’s not impossible to get couple others from drops, it’s both rare, but more so in that amount
are you 100% sure? - because what does drop in there quite abundantly; is royal jelly
so maybe you entered mine, thinking dynamite, saw purple drop, automatically thought it was dynamite? and then it turns out it was jelly?
*i’ve farmed staunton mine a ton for balthazar medal, i legit don’t think i remember ever getting more than 3 dynamites from there, not that it’s technically not possible with the scrap piles and cronely throwers, but even 3 doesn’t happen often, let alone 4-5. Jelly on the other hand…
ah, I was certain that people are gonna try EVERY possible angle to dissuade me from my impressions…
Yes, I am absolutely certain on all these counts, and had even anticipated both yours and @Zantai’s remarks and “potential explanations”.
again – please take note of the reddit thread where at least 2 other people seem to have expressed a similar sentiment.
And also please note carefully my OP where I did specify that I believe the same thing had happened in the past as well, but at THAT time I brushed it off as MY “ERROR” … Turns out I was right from the start and I’m all there mentally in the end !!
EVEN SO, let me oblige you: Let’s assume the hypothetical and did-not-happen scenario that I did NOT indeed get the “4-5 sticks” I imagined, but rather a lower number, say 3 (THREE).
In that case, my final tally should have STILL been higher than the 3 I got. 3+1 = 4.
Let me oblige you even further:
Contrary to YOUR experience with the St. mine, I personally don’t recall ever having had a Dynamite drop count as low as 2 (TWO) within it. Like… EVER. (which doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s NEVER happened … just that I don’t recall it having happened… which means that in all my RECENT runs through it, the count has ALWAYS been AT LEAST 3 (THREE) )
Therefore, by virtue of CONTRADICTION, there’s NO way that my final Dynamite tally of 3 is legit, as it would imply that I ONLY GOT 2 (TWO) STICKS within the mine itself, which just doesn’t compute.
.
.
then i’m gonna ask again; are you playing a mod ?
because 2 is already “out of the norm”; 1 is the norm
(heck i just did a run just now getting 1 and 2)
and as you see the dev himself say 4-5 would be what they get on dev settings…
so, if you’re already in a position where you feel 3 is the norm, something isn’t normal/“never getting 2 or just 1”, because these are already more likely to happen than 3, then perhaps it’s a sign in itself that something is not normal, ie mod? or jelly/scrap mixup if vanilla?
*and keep in mind when i’m saying 1-2-3; this is including the 1 fixed spawn, i’m not referring to 1-2-3 additional drops, but the total count
I am not in the business of dissuading anyone…however, when a bug report comes around in all caps regarding an issue that seems impossible, has not been observed in the years of auto-loot the game has had for crafting materials, can be explained by a simple user error involving multiple inventory bags (something that has answered countless other bug reports over the years), AND we ourselves cannot reproduce the issue, I am inclined to be skeptical and theorize possible reasons why someone might believe there is a bug.
By all means, if you can provide a recording of your completely empty inventory and bags except for one stack of dynamite and you find yourself with less dynamite than dropped, we will very clearly have an issue on our hands.
Tested the pickups, all dynamite and crystals are accounted for in my game.
Since you mentioned in your responses on reddit, that you never find enough dynamite:
Could it be that you are using it to blow up items or chests before you do the counting?
In any case, if you struggle to find enough dynamite: It is more productive to farm aether crystals, turn them into shards and then craft dynamite with those shards.
Just tested 20 runs of Staunton Mines, no bugs encountered. The only thing I can think of (that hasn’t been mentioned already) is you might be counting Scrap cause pink text, and being picked up automatically, therefore causing the confusion? Otherwise I can only think you install/uninstall some mod(s) which messed up the files, but even that would be rare, to say the least.
It’s not that people are trying to dissuade you from your impressions, YOU have to prove it to us, cause we are not having the same experience you claim, even tho we are trying to replicate it. As already stated, you should provide some kind of footage to not only prove your claim, but for the potential “bug” to be analyzed and ultimately fixed (if it’s there). And a little extra note; being sarcastic and aggressive is not helpful to share your case/experience, it’s only detrimental to both the discussion and to yourself.

Both Scrap and Royal Jelly WERE already considered as culprits in like the earliest posts of this thread already.
And as I already explained regarding them – NO.
mods
Never had ANY mods installed for this game. EVER.
Like, not only have I never installed any, I have never even DOWNLOADED any…
As already stated, you should provide some kind of footage
As already stated – working on it, and WILL have it ASAP.
And a little extra note; being sarcastic and aggressive
Err… O_o …Really ?
P.S. meanwhile, an additional redditor has expressed his disbelief in the reddit thread, but this time in THE OPPOSITE direction, with the impression that he got TOO MUCH dynamite !!
Guess we all just have different experiences, eh?
For what it’s worth, I’m on a never-modded, Steam-PC version of the game, with the 2 expansions.
which again can easily be explained by player “not paying proper attention”, so they don’t notice/distinguish between other purple materia, scrap etc granted by scrap piles: and they get a dynamite instead and mentally brush it off as scrap
^this has about 5000x higher chance to be the likely scenario, than some obscure loot bug that is now not only granting/looting “too little”, but now also somehow granting extra loot out of thin air… - you see how far fetched it’s becoming right?
here’s another sample for you
i did 10 runs, got 5x 2 (1 fixed+1 drop) and 5x 1 (fixed spawn only)
didn’t even get 3 once, let alone 5… - because getting that much is just not normal, let alone frequently…
so, taking you at your word of not using a mod, either your experience of 3+ as the norm is off, or something is otherwise affecting/impacting/bugging your game with sheer drop amount you’re getting
or there might be the chance you too are mixing up drops?
