Ultos Elementalist and Dagallon Purifier

First of all I just have to say that this game is the best thing since Diablo 2, I just cant understand why I didnt give it a chance earlier but Im glad I finally did! Such a great atmosphere and the perfect pacing in terms of gameplay, after 4k hours of PoE this is such a fresh breath of air.

So anyway, Just thought I`d share my builds here in case someone else was looking for up to date builds that work. None of these are my own creations but only slightly modified to suit my own playstyle.

First off my Ultos Elementalist, my first character in Grim Dawn, played it for a long time without the Ultos set since I only got the complete set recently. Took down Avatar of Mogdrogen today in around 8 minutes and the playstyle is super fun so really happy with it! Followed Nery`s build pretty much.

Then my Purifier that was the second character I made since I had the complete dagallon set by then and most of the other pieces. Based on a few different builds I found here and on reddit. Works really well, much faster clearspeed than my ultos build but a bit squishier. Can still farm Lokarr in a couple of minutes though

Now I`m wondering what character to make next, thinking maybe Warlord tank something, tempting to just make an Oathbreaker and see where I end up, perhaps making my own build in the process

Welcome to the forum and to Grim Dawn!

Looks like you already have gotten a few chars up and running

making own builds is what I enjoy most in this game

Thanks man!

Yeah I think I will definately make my own build this time around. Do you have certain way to apporach making your own builds? Do start looking at items/sets first then the class/skills or the other way around?

My problem is that I really dont know much about any other classes than demo, inq and shaman. Would be really nice if there was a youtube video just showing all the skills and attacks for the different classes in the game hehe

I try to make “budget” builds, with common monster infrequents, epic (blue) items and faction items (you can see some of them here 🤯 malawiglenn’s guide on game mechanics for beginners )

Otherwise for my “real builds” I try to find in grim tools something that could potentially synergize together, or I choose a skill to build around and try to find items that buffs or modifies that skill. Reading about other peoples builds also give me ideas. I also try to stay out of the “set-meta” in making builds.
I also tend to not stick with the forum-meta for build metric (like sub 5 min crucible). I am confident making “crap builds” that “only” can kill Lokarr for instance  Something I am working on now are Fire retaliation Paladin, Lighting retaliation Vindicator and Health Regen Purifier tank with some nice procs.

This is a bit dated, but should still give you some ideas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNGzPDwDRwE&list=PL7-1ZHY4XHBhwm93wSwvYydWzjayFl0Ax in that playlist he shows all active skills of each class (well AoM and FG classes are not included)

Nice, that playlist is perfect, thanks man!

Yeah I cant stand either SR or Crucible so never pay it much attention when looking at builds, as long as I can do all the content in Ultimate and perhaps some super bosses then Im happy hehe

If I happen to drop a dope Monster Infrequent, that is another way how I get build-ideas.
Like these three

The first two I use on my Aether Ray Mage Hunter and the third one gave me hope to take a look into acid ravenous earth build  And with next patch, getting good rolls on monster infrequents will be a bit easier which will allow for more build creativity (+ the fact that they will add even more of these items)
