Umemployed buildings

Hello! I am loving this game so far. But recently I have been having issue with getting someone to work the school and healers house. I had free laborers so that should not be the issue. I have restarted a new settlement multiple times and it has not changed

Both the School and the Healer require some basic education. If a villager with such education level is not unemployed and available to fill the slot in those buildings, no one will fill them.
Since the School provides basic education to the population members, this is why now I always build the School first, and later the Healer’s House: I, too, went through several abortive early games tearing my hair out trying to get someone into the Healer’s House when my only educated villager was already working as a Hunter or Firewood Chopper and I couldn’t find him!
If you do find him, you can move him to the building that uses his/her education, but without a working School it’s chancy - I had games in which by the time I built a Healer’s House I had nobody in the village with any education - apparently whoever the game had provided got killed off (I had some games with serious early casualties from wolves, bears, and boars who apparently found educated types extra-tasty)

Welcome to the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

This isn’t a bug. Either immigrants will turn up who are educated and can fill the positions or you can unassign workers in the Professions window and then try to assign a teacher/healer there. Some of your villagers are likely to be educated enough to fill the positions, as Boris said they’re just employed elsewhere which is why they’re not available atm. Once you find them, then just reassign the rest of your workers to any open professions.

Like Boris, I do my school first and get that going because then you will always have villagers who can fill the school/healer slots in future if needed.
