Needless to say that since I did just want to play Grim Dawn so there is a difference between my character and other classes available in the game.
My Arcanist is 10 times less resistant and 10 times less potent in ultimate full legendary mode. But maybe I’m wrong mounted my character, maybe you’ll prove me wrong by offering me Arcanists videos that have the same effectiveness as these classes there?
If I could only conclude that the game is unbalanced unfortunately due to time constraints I can not start over with other classes, but I hope you prove me wrong, thank you.
Classes déséquilibrées ?
Bonjour à tous, j’ai adoré ce jeu avec mon Arcaniste jusqu’au moment ou j’ai vu cela :
youtu.be/vqn5h-weIEk
youtu.be/aE7MoNV1ANU
youtu.be/ybQUqByg_pE
Does your character have only one mastery? Some of the videos are outdated. You shouldn`t rush your judgement, the problem most likely is in your build.
Is your character pure Arcanist? If it is, that’s the problem. Trying to beat the whole game with one mastery is really difficult, specially with Arcanist which is one of the more squishy masteries. The entire game was balanced with dual masteries in mind.
We’re all happy until we see someone else “supposedly” doing better than we.
The problem here is that there is no info on the video’s character build, or yours. Is the character in the video hacked, or used tools to make it very powerful?
Also, everyone plays differently.
The real question is, do you have fun playing the game?
If you aren’t having fun, why not? Then adjust accordingly.
If you aren’t having fun because someone else can kill some boss in x seconds, then you might need to rethink why you play games.
If you are having some problems with your character, then use Grimcalc to post a link to your build and describe what problems you are having. The community can then provide suggestions.
@KargaN
My problem is probably my build, I do not doubt, but before changing my build:
Can you show me Arcanasites of videos that can kill as quickly or as easily tanker Fabius and Mordrogen?
I searched I found nothing. Thank you
FR –
Merci
I can’t watch video’s while at work, so not 100% sure what you’re watching…
But as the previous post said, single masteries are typically under powered compared to double masteries. Also beware if people are posting video’s on youtube showing how strong they are, they are most likely finely tuned with optimal gear. The same class can have vastly different strength based on how well the skills meld together. Even with the exact same skills selected, better gear can play a large role too.
That said, there is currently some unbalance between casters and melee builds in the end game. Caster are typically stronger early game as their spells are strong and can melt the early monsters. However, those spells don’t scale as well in late game (ultimate difficulty) due to the lack of % weapon damage (don’t gain any “flat” damage bonuses, some resist reductions or ADCtH) in their skills. This limits their DPS and they are more squishy. So melee classes do “typically” out perform casters in the end game… Doesn’t mean casters aren’t viable or fun to play, they just may take some more skill and be a little slower.
The OP has not updated the build here in a long time but if you follow the link to one of his video’s and look at his new ones from his channels you can find an update. He did have a goal of tanking Fab and with enough gear it can be done…
But tanking him with any caster is hard to do and will need really good gear and skill to do it… Also will be slower then most melee builds…
But, it is much easier taking out the mad queen with casters…
Sorry man, Arcanist is a spellcaster mastery, not fighter one - you won`t be able to tank anything with this one. Moreover as Norzan said - the game is balanced for dual mastery classes, not for single ones.
This is another “arcanist” build that is a bit more tanky…and pretty much the only one where Arcanist is the main class, not the supporting class, that is very good at tanking…
Unfortunately, I don’t believe it’s been updated much either, but the general concepts I think do still work.
Still if you want the fastest, you’ll have to go melee… There is a reason why all of Norzan’s characters listed in his signature are melee builds. Only the druid can traditionally be a caster…but I would guess even his is a melee build…
But, as Ibugsy said, the real question is are you having fun? There are a lot of viable normal game caster builds. I have an AAR sorcerer, bleed warder, firestrike saboteur and working on a witchblade. The sorcerer may be one of the slowest, but I probably have the most fun running him around when I just want farm for fun (not speed).
All of those videos are outdated and use numerous things that have been nerfed. You should not use those as a standard for judging your character as they are completely irrelevant in the current patch.
@Kargan I play Mage of war.
I have no problems with my build in this game, except against Fabius and Mordrogen.
And +10 pts in Military Conditioning, warrior class
Ok, thank you for your answers, I’ll look at this more closely. But I think I can not change secondary class for this type of arcanist :
youtu.be/pdGqDk7E2Fw
Arcanist I play, I do not think putting a melee weapon is not role play, and if I hit a Mage, so do not play mage.
What is your resistance reduction skill? One of key features in Grim Dawn is to reduce enemys resistances. Did you pick Elemental Storm from devotion constellation Rhonans Crown? Battlemage does not offer any resistance reduction skill
The worry is that when I use this skill, I have very little time to do damage, Fabius kills me 3 shoots. Mirror of Erectes is not enough.
I must constantly kite, all I do is run away and he fills life. I can not kill him or he would take me more than an hour. What is not normal compared to other classes.
Fab does a lot of pierce damage and your screen shots show you’re resist at 37%. Try increasing that a ways to see if that helps… I think is other source is cold damage (typical for my nightblades). Your’s is better at 57%, but capping that as well should help.
Your DA is also fairly low for tanking. After fighting him, hover over DA and see what his % crit is. He does a TON of damage on crits too… Those other classes typically will have 80% pierce/cold resistance and probably 2200 +DA when facing him. And probably more HP… A lot of those classes probably have some decent physical resists too…not sure what yours are, but that is another damage source of his…
Some people are against consumables for some reason, but the whole line of royal jelly potions give a big boost to hp and hp regen that can help too…if you’re not against using them…
Nullifications remove buffs, but won’t reduce resistances (well…unless the buff is a resistance boost…). Things like arcane bomb (widow), viper, Elemental storm (rhowan’s crow) are all ways to help reduce resistances to help you kill much faster…won’t help you take on more hits though…
The pictures I posted are from a few months, now I have 55% pierce damage resist.
For défense Devotions i use ;
Turtle
Healing rain
Dryad’s blessing
Tipes the scales
I watched the builds you have offered me, but they are melee Arcanists, I do not want to hit melee, I want to play a real magician.
I will increase my resistance to perforation and see if I can use that Scote offers me. Healing rain and Dryad’s blessing is essential for me, I’ll see …
That’s fair if you want to stick to a real magician. But is it is going to be a challenge for sure! CT is a close range skill…almost melee even with the % WD… So if you’re going to try him, you’ll need to be able to take hits… I would still try to get your pierce up to 80% if you want to try him.
Fab and iron maiden are the hardest nemesis for casters because casters are too squishy, the nemesis move fast and hit really hard.
I, personally, have come to terms that my AAR sorcerer is just not going to mess with him (or IM). If I want to take them out, I use my melee builds… Not saying it can’t be done, but its not easy with a caster…
