First you have Fabius, a boss that has the ability to 1shot any build and
can teleport so there’s no running from him, yet his droptable is utter garbage.
I’ve seen countless times where his trove only dropps yellow and greens,
not even good ones. So you get trash-loot from a boss that requires max
reputation and can 1shot you… /gg
Then you have Moose, a boss that you have to kill TWICE, and that can permafreeze
your hero to death unless you use anti-freeze potion, this Nemesis also has
utter crap loottable, rewarding mostly yellows and greens. And he’s also very
hard to locate and can require a skeletonkey to access.
Nemesis’s are hard, and they are mostly a pain to locate, yet they had their
drops nerfed, i have no idea why this was decided.
In Diablo-II you have Mephisto,Baal, Pindle. In Titan Quest you have the Hydra,
all very dependable to farm fast. Maybe not easy, but fast.
So why was our primary lootpinjatas wrecked by the nerfhammer ?.
And please don’t say Crucible… Not everyone wants to spend 30 minutes
for that 1 crap-legendary, and not everyone has gear or build to manage
crucible on higher difficulty. There should be monsters in the gameworld
that you can farm for items, we shouldn’t have to rely on a DLC.
Moose loot drop rate wasn’t nerfed as far as i’m aware. Fabius loot was nerfed to be the same as Zantarin and Iron Maiden because of how easy he is to find.
Hydra loot drops are atrocious. I maybe got actually 6 different legendaries (because of the aumont of copies i got instead of new ones) and this is after killing it over 300 times. The drop rate in Titan Quest is overall atrocious compared to Grim Dawn. I’ve got 20 times the aumont of legendaries (not counting trading) in Grim Dawn compared to Titan Quest and i barely farmed in Grim Dawn unlike Titan Quest where i farmed for hundreds of hours.
I do agree that Nemeses need a better loot drop rate and better quality as well because how tough some of them are (they are far stronger than Hydra and the other bosses in Titan Quest) and because how hard to find some of them are (Benn’Jhar, i’m looking at you).
Problem is: as long as you have few blueprints learned, farming nemesis is awesome. And some shoulderguards can be VERY good to drop (but it’s completely random)
Then becomes more and more disapointing, and it’s true that with some builds Killing them can be pretty annoying, because not every build is both tanky and high dps dealing (but then, i like to think that you should play a build because it is fun and not only because it’s the current meta, but im probably alone in this).
So maybe when you have few blueprints left to learn there should be some new incentive to farm the nemesis, i don’t know maybe the drop rate of legendaries could slightly increase the more blueprints youhave learned?
Edit: and yes, the spawning points of Benn need to be reduced significantly, you could virtually run the various maps for 30 minutes before you find him, and i think he has the right to get killed by my characters as much as the other nemesis
they probably secretelty like the fact that everyone knows crucible spam is the best way to farm legendaries because they will sell more of it on steam.
-why do nemesis even drop yellow items ? they are useless after level 20.
-could they not give a long buff to the player once killed? maybe some kind of magic find buff, stackable (yes, that is similar to diablo3’s old nephalem buff) that way the game wouldn’t be just about exiting to main menu and restarting all the damn time.
The way I see it, Fabius is just a bonus on the way to dynamite + Cronley (and a benchmark of sorts), Moose is just a bonus on the way to clear SoT and a treasure trove, and Benn is just a bonus on the way to clear BoC. The rest I really need to go out of my ways to find, but hopefully that will change at least for Valdaran in 1.007.
They don’t drop a legendary per run, but if they did even remotely close to that there would be no point to the rest of the game as far as farming is concerned. So I can’t really see an issue, especially since some of them you can kill in less than 30 seconds without even touching the mouse or keyboard.
Us sneaky devs, nerfing Nemesis boss loot months before the Crucible was even out to make you buy our DLC some day.
Those Nemesis bosses had their loot nerfed because they funneled player activity to just spam hunting a couple targets (players tend to seek out the most efficient route, even if that route is detrimental to their own enjoyment of the game).
Since those nerfs, drop rates in general were generously buffed.
Gladiator Crucible is one of the hardest challenges in the game, and so it necessitates appropriately rewarding loot. This does not mean though that the rest of the game (including non Nemesis sources) is unrewarding for the challenge it offers, or that someone can just toggle Gladiator and be swimming in loot immediately with zero effort.
That said, since perception tends to shape reality, I made some small adjustments to non Nemesis loot tables for 1.0.0.7 in favor of dropping more Uniques.
right now, if you are quick, aspirant difficulty, start at wave 100, clear 150, restart at 130 two more times gives you about the same or more purples than farming the game. do the same in challenger and it’s not even close. you don’t need to farm it on gladiator.
Might as well nerf firestrike again now that my dual wield Pyro is my weakest lvl 85 build. It’s due for another round. Got to make that build completely unrewarding to use
And no changes to invisible recipe mechanics? It drops everytime instead of legendaries from nemesis, that’s why they became worthless to the point i don’t even bother stopping when i meet any of them on my way.
