Hi guys, a couple of questions regarding upheaval if anyone can help me out. I’m building a 2H ranged savagery vindicator with 60% proc’ing a WPS.
When I crit, upheaval would replace/override all WPS and default attack?
If Q1 is true, and upheaval is level 1. When I crit, my damage is actually penalized since I can’t proc any other wps, and lv1 upheaval is only 90% main hand damage?
Upheaval is always a crit, so maxing upheaval would actually be another multiplier in addition to savagery bonus and crit damage?
Generally, default attack replacers and WPSes stack together, what I know is that the % Weapon Damage on default weapon replacers and WPS are multiplicative and the added damage of the WPS is added to the attack replacer.
Upheaval can/will be overridden if another WPS procs and also crits as 2 WPSes cannot proc together.

Since Lv. 1 Upheaval’s % Weapon Damage is lower than 100, you’ll see slightly less weapon damage when it overlaps but the Lightning and Bleed damage will be applied to the attack so it can theoretically be more damage than if it hadn’t procced.
Upheaval is always a crit, so maxing upheaval would actually be another multiplier in addition to savagery bonus and crit damage?
Yes. Though most people will put their points elsewhere and use a single point in Upheaval for placing two devotion procs onto their default attack - one on Savagery and one on Upheaval.
when u proc feral hunger/zolhans/markovian - upheaval will NOT proc.
when you do proc upheaval, the dmg % is multiplied by your base skill , if ur upheaval is 200% weapon dmg and your savagery is 150%, then the upheaval proc will be 300% weapon.
this is added to your regular attack, so in the above case, will do 150% savagery dmg to your target and a 300% weapon dmg AOE to everything in the area, for a total of 450% on ur target.
upheaval is a separate attack and has its own crit %, it does not always crit even if your regular attack that proc’ed it is a crit.
however, you can bind on crit devotions to upheaval, and it will always procs when your SAVAGERY crits not your upheaval, so even if ur upheaval doens’t crit, the devotion will still proc.
Thank you guys for clarifying this up, so if I’m reading this right, when I have 60% of WPS proc, and 20% crit chance. Upheaval will proc 40%*20%=8% of the time?
Seems to me upheaval is best served as a point wonder for devotion proc, pumping points into it just feels bad unless you have 0 WPS.
testing tells me that upheaval doesn’t hit your main target at all, meaning it’s only useful for aoe and a second devotion proc
testing vs devil’s crossing dummies, i have no bleed damage (nor dot damage of any kind), and when i crit and trigger upheaval the second nearby dummy begins taking bleed damage while my main target does not
When you crit, Upheaval counts as WPS skill with 100% chance to trigger. If you have other WPS, then they’ll still have a chance to trigger (proportional to their nominal chance to trigger). But their real chance to trigger (and Upheaval’s) will be reduced so the sum of chance is still 100% (standard WPS mechanics).
If you dont crit, Upheaval acts as if it never existed.
Yes, and same could be said about other AoE WPS like Whirling Blades. Do note, though, that Upheaval affects your damge when you crit, so if you max it, you’ll “amplify” your crit damage even more.
