Great build. A few questions if you don’t mind asking? (I’m still new to the game)
Do you have a detailed guide on Devotion points and how to get to the end game constellations? I’m finding it difficult what to choose and what’s best at a low level. Shall I just focus on offensive constellation that help me eventually unlock Kracken or is there an easy route to unlocking Kracken?
You say get Primal Strike and then Primal Bond. So I level Primal Strike to 16 and then pump all my points into the mastery until I can start levelling Primal Bond? So basically one spell for the entire game?
He takes stormcaller’s pact not primal bond, primal is useless here. and yes just one spell. Primal strike and any random ass 2 hander + wendigo totem will carry you through elite without any troubles.
I would get falcon swoop/behemoth early just to start leveling them. But you could go swoop/arcane bomb to level those and then get kraken after. Honestly doesn’t matter a whole lot
Falcon first, then depends on whether you want to focus on offense or defense first. In my case I’m almost lvl70 but I’ve yet to need a defensive devotion so I went arcane bomb -> kraken -> spears, ymmv.
You should max out torrent before primal strike to avoid energy issues early game, but if you’ve already maxed primal strike and don’t want to respec, then just deal with it the best you can and work on the rest.
I also split points between Solael’s and stormcaller’s toggles since having better attack speed is great for the build, and stormcaller’s don’t come into its full power until you have enough OA to take advantage of the +crit damage.
If there’s one thing I’d do differently now, it’s that I wouldn’t put occultist mastery points past 32 since I don’t need any skills beyond that. And this build can be played as a standard 2h primal strike build until you hit 75 for the gun, so there’s a looong time for you to figure out how many extra points you might actually need to invest into mastery purely for the cunning/spirit.
Here’s mine with some non-BiS legendaries and epics. Haven’t even bothered to put down all the components/augments. No defensive devotion skills either, things die fast as it is.
Able to switch to a ranged weapon helps a lot with being squishy to damage spikes, too. Can always redo components/augments once I hit 70 and get revered with black legion.
I 'am still a beginer at Grim dawn, this is my second char but I truly think that maxing primal bond then spec out for stormcaller as sugested in the leveling guide is better. My first char was a savagery warder and taking early stormcaller decreased my dps because you have far less + lighting dmg than physical in the early stage so convert physical to lighting actually decrease your dps, focusing in physical untill 75 is a better option imo.
May I ask why we must go +human/chtonian augment on weapon instead of+lighting?
In my experience it’s a moot point because you’ll cruise through with stormcaller too. I have 21k+ sheet dps at lvl67 with stormcaller’s, more dps at that point wouldn’t bring much significant improvement to clearing speed unless I run into nemeses left and right.
OP used those augments for the specific purpose of farming fabius and BoC clears, it should be obvious because he explained it in his post and it’s also stated in the title of this build… But if you want to take a more general approach, you should use augments as you see fit.
Yes and yes. PS is worthless without thunderous strike for a main damage skill and torrent gives us sexy aoe. Torrent also increases our aoe (somewhat single target as it can arc back to original guy) at no mana cost, maxing PS out too fast can result in running out of mana super fast. I like to put 2 points into torrent and 1 for PS for a few levels then leave PS at 10/16 or 12/16 if you can’t handle the energy costs or it just bugs you
Yes and primal strike does way more lightning damage than savagery lol I just hit 40 on my new elementalist and primal bond (with a cute extra 8% phys bonus on top) gives me a whopping 7 dps gain over stormcallers, but sheet dps does not take into account torrent modifier’s damage which is huge portion of our damage. That is already a win for stormcaller’s, once you get any additional lightning bonuses or especially 2nd source of conversion for your weapon it will massively out do it. Ofc you get your damage absorb, but honestly I think that is not needed at all. I agree with windezz though it is a bit of a moot point. PS, totem,. garbage 2 hander will cruise through elite no matter what and do ok in ulti
For whatever reason Crate got rid of the tooltip that states it has 100% pierce and now only the weapon description hints at it. It still has the effect though
I’ve been searching around for the best way to utilize the Ultos Set and came across this build. Just my noob question, is this the best character to utilize the set with a melee weapon? I’m really just looking for be a beast lightning melee guy atm XD
Search for jaja´s savagery build, if you want to play a meele since its more specific towards meele gameplay than this build (this one is using the gun to clear trash mobs).
Warder is tankier but has much less damage due to lacking the resist debuffs and bonus OA. Depends on your preference to be honest. But for this setup which is made for blowing up screens worth of trash in seconds more damage is preferable to more tankyness imo.
yes if u like to be full melee i suggest savagery over primal strike.
boringbuild 1.0 does more dmg. physical warder is tankier. witchblade also does ok dps and is absolutely unkillable, but pretty gear intensive.
