Game Version: v1.3.0.3
Platform: Steam (Vanilla / No Mods)
Bug Description:
On Ascendant difficulty, Nemesis bosses do not spawn in the roguelike dungeon “Port Valbury”, no matter how many enemies are cleared.
I have confirmed that the Aetherial Nemesis (Valdaran) spawns normally in other areas such as The Conflagration and Immolation. The Aetherial Vanguard Nemesis (Aleksander) also fails to appear in Port Valbury on Ascendant difficulty, but I have confirmed his spawns in other maps (e.g., the Combustion Chamber).
Expected Behavior:
Valdaran should spawn in Port Valbury. Given the Nemesis spawn frequencies in other roguelike dungeons like the Steps of Torment, completely clearing out all enemies in the map should reasonably yield at least 2 or more Nemesis spawns. However, even when clearing the entire Port Valbury map completely without leaving any enemies, zero Nemesis bosses appear.
Reproduction Steps:
Play on Ascendant difficulty.
Enter the roguelike dungeon “Port Valbury” and fully clear the map of all enemies.
Observe that no Nemesis bosses spawn.
Note: Since the issue is that the event does not happen at all, I have not attached any screenshots or videos.
Update 3: I have done another run that provides more insight. It seems this issue might not be tied to specific locations like Port Valbury, but rather how the spawns interact between the “Aetherials” and “Aetherial Vanguard” factions under the new v1.3 mechanics.
Run 5:
Started a new session and went straight to Port Valbury (Aetherials faction territory). Aleksander spawned. After killing him, 0 additional Nemesis spawned in Port Valbury.
In the same session, I cleared Burial Hill, Immolation, and The Conflagration (Aetherials faction territory). 0 Nemesis spawned.
In the same session, I went to the Combustion Chamber (Aetherial Vanguard faction territory). Valdaran spawned.
In the same session, I cleared the Council Chambers and Malmouth (Aetherial Vanguard faction territory). 0 additional Nemesis spawned.
Observation: In v1.3, Nemesis bosses can spawn multiple times and can also cross-spawn between these two factions. Based on the sequence above, it looks like:
Killing Aleksander breaks/prevents further Nemesis spawns from the “Aetherials” faction.
Killing Valdaran breaks/prevents further Nemesis spawns from the “Aetherial Vanguard” faction.
I am reporting this sequence as it might help pinpoint the exact issue.
pretty sure it’s just rng
i got both valde and aleks in PV on ascendant
issue is you can get the same nemesis multiple times in a row, while then running out of spawns/no more to kill while in PV in that session, making it appear like the other nemesis doesn’t spawn.
I think it would be neater if the spawner changed to proper alternate like it did before the new repeat/infinite spawn system got added
I agree with you that meeting both Valdaran and Aleksander can happen due to RNG, as my test runs show.
However, the main point I wanted to highlight is that once Aleksander is killed, no matter how many enemies you clear inside PV (Aetherials faction territory), neither Aleksander nor Valdaran will spawn anymore.
Considering I cleared enough enemies to potentially trigger 6 spawns, getting exactly 0 spawns twice in a row would make me the unluckiest man in the world. With a rebound of luck like that, I should probably go buy a lottery ticket and win the jackpot right now!
and that’s what i said, i got both… ie 2 spawns in PV
you have a kill meter/trigger, you need a certain amount, how much i’ve no clue but it’s always a bit
i also got no more than 2 spawns in SoT or BoC, AG or ToH
but, i also wasn’t using the altar bonus for Nemesis spawn increase, and it’s possible the trigger is balanced based on that.
*worth to mention i’m still on 0.3 too so neme spawn rate hasn’t been nerfed on my end
so either the limit is 2, or Valde atleast isn’t the block
*but as i said i also only got 2 spawns with all the other factions in their dungeons, weirdly enough i got 2x benji tho and never a grava so that might just be rng rng
Resolved in v1.3.0.5: As mentioned in the v1.3.0.5 patch notes (“Fixed inconsistent spawning of Aetherial and Aetherial Vanguard Nemesises”), I can confirm that this issue is now resolved on my end.
After killing Aleksander in The Conflagration, Valdaran now successfully spawns in Port Valbury as expected.
Huge thanks and praise to the Crate Entertainment engineers for working so hard (and probably losing sleep!) to get this fixed so quickly. I really appreciate your dedication.
