Valve Discontinues Steam Link

Get one while you still can for $2.50.

I bought mine last year but never used it.

Not really surprised, lets face it, the steam machine is also dead as well, (the steam OS is still getting some support) but the steam machine was just a gimmick. I don’t have the steam controller, so can’t really comment on that. But to me, I prefer a K&M or controller, I don’t think I could really use a hybrid bit of both. Not sure if they will last much longer? I guess Valve will not be touching the hardware sside of things much now. Too many flops.

And as for the steam link, sounds nice on paper, but not worth it for me. So a pass from me as well.

This has to be the strangest “recommendation” I have ever seen.

I use mine daily. It’s a great purchase. I stream from pc to TV to watch TV shows and for that it works great, very convenient. Easier than swapping around cables. I could just have another HDMI cable plugged into my PC and then swap monitor modes every time but this is just so much better. You just jump in the bed or on the couch, turn on the TV, turn on the steam link and go. As long as the PC is on and steam is running it launches and you can play anything on your pc from the steam link location (not only steam games)

For gaming, it works OK, it has a bit of a delay obviously so playing something like overwatch… Not recommended, you lose too many FPS so it becomes really hard to compete. Soul caliber or street fighter, or any platformers or party games and it works perfectly. I use it as a party console mostly when I game on it to stream stuff like Gang Beasts or You Don’t Know Jack onto my 55" tv. For $2.50 (plus shipping?) I say it’s worth it.
