Various issues with UI scaling at 4K resolution

Increasing UI Scale seems to have very little if any effect on the size of Health Bars, it only seems to affect the vertical positioning of health bars (shifting them towards the Health Numbers as you increase UI Scale). This means they appear too small at say, 4K resolution.

This is bad if you want to play the game at a resolution greater than 1080p.

Sorry, I’m pretty scatterbrained when reporting things… hopefully I’ve perfected this report now.

Edit: Loading Screen tips/hints also don’t scale with UI Scale.
Edit: Rift Gate and Shrine icons on World Map are misaligned at 4K, possibly all icons,

Yeah, please fix this since I play GD exclusively at 4K :frowning:

Thanks Crate!

Please always include your monitor’s size when complaining about scaling. It’s a vital piece of information, because resolution alone doesn’t make UI small.

I play on a 25 inch monitor that runs natively at 1080p, but I utilize Nvidia’s DSR feature to up the resolution to 4k.

When the UI scale is set to 2.0x, everything scales fine except the main menu buttons and the options menus… (it’s been like this since launch/early access)

  • Granted I haven’t updated to 1.2 yet (waiting for them to iron out the bugs for a month or so). So, I’m still on 1.1.9.8 via the Steam Beta Branch

It… does though? If you have no scaling and you run the game at differing resolutions than the UI will differ in size. A physically bigger screen would make things bigger, yes, but you would need a 64" 4K resolution display to make the games UI, with default UI Scaling, be the same size as on a 32" 1080p display. A 4K 32" display would likely require you to use a magnifying lense when studying the UI in this scenario (unless you have excellent eye sight).

The game does offer a setting for scaling the UI thankfully so you don’t need a massive monitor to make the UI legible at high resolutions, however it seems it is incorrectly selectively affecting UI elements instead of all of them and various elements are being incorrectly positioned too.

I haven’t tested it but it’s possible the positioning of elements is correct if you stick to integer values for scaling like 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 etc. and avoid fractional scaling.
