I’ve to agree on this, esp. as someone who had to start over on xbox. That’s what made me painfully aware how much i could make it easier for myself in my PC Save with all the stuff which i had already unlockes, the amount of money, which i can share, the shared stashtabs unlocked etc etc.
And that’s also the same with the vendor. For leveling it can be quite helpfull to check it out regularly because you might get a gem which helps you, it’s just later on that vendor isn’t as vital anymore - but as someone already mentioned, it’s a question if every feature needs to be endgame viable, or if there can’t be features just for leveling and newcomers.
But they lost me at the point when they claimed Iron Bits aren’t important or anything at all to begin with, because i’d argue again that esp. Grim Dawn is one of the games where their main-currency does have a purpose. Respeccing, crafting, (faction) vendors etc. If you go at a craftingspree the iron bits are just gone. And as you mentioend part of it is also to make it balanced. Like it would push respeccing as example pretty much to freespec without any value, and then we would go in direction of Diablo 3 and such where builds and such doesn’t even have any weight and meaning at all, because you can change without any thought anytime anyway. Atleast iron bits are still a well balanced barrier, where you still have a lot of freedom to change quite often, but make it not too easy accessable to destroy it.
Also agree, it really comes off weird. It reminds me back in my WoW days with some guildmember where i had a debate over Diablo 2 and pretty much any suggestion they had felt like making it less diablo 2 / ARPG and more MMORPG WoW-like.
