Veteran Difficulty is not too hard and I am willing to prove it

*raises hand… :face_with_hand_over_mouth: *

She is fun though…

Panetti’s Mage Hunter is hella easy / fun to level with. If I knew how to stream / make videos I’d do that one in a heartbeat.

Added to the list.

Level 13 in one hour LOL (stun jacks demo)

EDIT: i messed up the video. I paused OBS for a short break and forgot to turn it back on when I got back and started playing again

Level 15 now, just hit and cleared Burrwitch village rift.
Took freaking 1hour 19 min :open_mouth: I need to practice my un-transmuted Stun Jacks :stuck_out_tongue:
Build: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4NODybo2

You didn’t have to go that hard in stun jacks. I have added rules to the top of the thread and am about to start the occultist run. First video will be up later than I initially though.

Rather than doing this it’s probably more useful if you wrote an explanation on what (soft) requirements for Veteran are now.
That way it’s not “See I can do it so if you can’t you need to git gud.” but it’s more "This is what you need to succeed in Veteran and here are some tips on how to get it."

Of course 1 or 2 videos with explanation could be a great medium for this, but doing many of them seems just a waste of your time to me.

I think most inexperienced players don’t rush a skill, they spread their points here, there and everywhere. Unless it’s the first unlock (Fire Strike, Cadence, Etc) there will likely be points all over the place (e.g. Nightblade - veil, pneumatic burst, dual blades, ABB, Etc…). It’s probably worth checking out a few ‘newb’ youtube/twitch videos and finding the common themes of mistakes (not rushing skills, no mastery bar investment, no components, Etc)

To me all the things you mentioned are logical mistakes. Also have seen people using jewelry or other item, that convert their damage to something else, leading to monster DPS loss. Also no resistances or in higher difficulty level 20 gear with basically no armor. Also lot of players neglect RR skills and devotions.

Uploading Occultist Bloody Pox run right now. I got so lucky with drops I decided to do Salazar too. I think I’ll have to take the build to level 45 to show it falling off a bit but that it’s still manageable. Video will be up in like an hour and 30 minutes

“See I can do it so if you can’t you need to git gud.”
Is exactly what I’m going for though? A little internet pettiness mixed with self amusement is never a waste of time. I thought I explained before on Discord.

Pettiness is like nutmeg. Too much will make you sick, but just the right amount is a spice to life unlike any other.

Yes, that’s why I’m doing veteran mode. It’s not for newbs. If newbs are complaining that they are suffering and they spread points all over, that is the game telling them they’re not actually thinking about what they’re doing.

the thing with Gumshoe is very right, i googled grim dawn builds when i saw new patch took me to another site ( other than crate you may know what im on about) first beginner build has them wasting 25 points in 25 skills with 1 point in each with 1 passive tree at max and another 80% max which makes the first 50 levels with many many passive skills and lots of active skills.

me personaly havnt had any problems playing veteran only time i did was dieing to act 1 final boss with said build i was on about still i respec alot of stuff away, pumped some skills up, look at what killed me ( that aether barrage he does) and found any and crafted all aether res and armor absorb i could and did it.

Oh. Well, carry on then. :sunglasses:

Shaman’s grasping vines!
No seriously, I haven’t explored this skill at all, only use it as proc machine, and always wondering if it’s good for levelling.

Should have done more Vindicative flame for speeding up some things

Newbs usually think that all green items are better than yellows and blues are better than greens. That is logical to them. You should mimic that behaviou

I now did another run with BWC and I do not understand that complaint I read earlier that it is impossible to go single element spec. The Burning corpses etc. just melts, with some patience.

Pretty sure that’s a bit of an advanced knowledge. If I see a game whose defining point is being able to go dual class then I’d go dual class immediately. At least that’s what I did when I was new. It’s probably gonna be too easy for the most part tho.

Anyway. Can I nominate judgment oathkeeper? As in no skills until you get judgment. Idk if that would work since I’ve never played levelling since that purifier I posted back in AoM.

How many “noobs” do this?

Btw I have a very serious suggestion. There have been complaints about Necro Skellies being squishy, in particular in end-game for poor/beginner players. Now that normal and veteran has been buffed, it would be interesting to prove that skeletons are still doable in terms of early leveling and gameplay.

You have already done occu, and have lined up shaman and necro. Could you consider changing Necro to Raise Skeletons instead just to cover pets?

any build you want. but you’re not allowed to have more then 200dps untill you’ve beaten the Warden. because that is what i see on most noob streams. when we go for 5k+ on loghorrean most noobs barely touch 1500-2000dps. when we would go for decent resists… the noobs most likely have none other then that Slith quest ring. And you’re not allowed to have more then 5 points in any skill. Need to spread nice and thin. and you’re not allowed to use devotion points, because that is too complex

when I start the second cycle I am happy to try skellies.

I probably will end up having to do a 15-30 and 30-45 video for each too to really make the case of this thread convincing, sigh.

As for “how many ‘noobs’ do this?” No way to know. But I’ve been playing GD online with strangers since the very beginning and I’d say more noobs actually focus on something while sprinkling a bit elsewhere than absolutely 1 pointing everything. So this thread’s method seems closer to a new player with a brain to me. And again, since we’re doing veteran mode, we’re not going to simulate the absolute wrong way to build powerfully.

All people need to do to level with BWC is rush Demon Fire and Agonizing Flames. Former adds chaos to kill the fire resistant mobs, and the latter has more flat fire and it has flat RR.
