Villager seeking shelter far away

Just noticed two of my villagers trying to get to shelter because of exposure. Was able to track situation of one of them. She was working up north in sand mine. Two shelters closer by (purple) and house close by (yellow) as well. But died (around orange dot) going to a shelter. Looking where she was heading when she died it had to be one of the blue marked locations. I did block of top right with a wall trying to force laborers/builders to not go through that path. I wonder if pathing messes up because of that?

Using v0.9.6e. Just found out I’m using steam cloud save, so not easy to share my save but I do have one at the moment just before death if needed.

Yes, please upload that save.

Saves are located in (even if using cloud saves):

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Saved Games\Farthest Frontier\Save

Zip up the entire TownName_###### folder along with the .map file and .sav that reproduces the issue. If the files are too big, you can use a service such as Google Drive to share it with us.

Thanks!

Ah I think you need to update the path in the pinned ‘about reporting’ thread: Reporting Farthest Frontier Bugs (Please Read) - #4 by Zantai . I guess it’s still the path from before save files were moved.

I zipped the .map and the .sav, let me know if that’s all you need. Farmington_2025041195442.zip

Note: I was using two self-created mods, but they (shouldn’t?) don’t have influence on any of this. One is to be able to move stuff using a key-input, other is to extend ranges of Forager, Rat catcher and Work camp using Harmony hookign into the invoke of OnBuildSitePlacedPostfix(ref Building).

Thanks for your save. It helped us to find a bug preventing your top temp shelters from being considered in winter. They are thinking the temp shelters need more firewood when they do not. This fix should make it into the next patch.

In the meantime you can try building regular shelters in place of your temp shelters up north to encourage those miners to live there as their home instead of ones further in town. Alternatively, opening up the top right side of the map could help them to not have to path as far depending upon where their home is.

Thanks for looking into this and the quick reply! Happy to help out.
Reason I blocked off the rights side was to prevent villagers taking that path. I understand it’s the shortest route to take, but it’s not safe however. Raiders spawned in the east most of the times, so having to look out for lost villagers every time you get raided was annoying. Maybe something to consider in the pathing algorithm?
