Villagers not repairing houses

Hello!

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I wanted to report that my villagers aren’t repairing my houses. I looked online and there are a ton of posts about this from about a month ago but nothing recent. I’ve made sure that I have a ton of idle villagers and a ton of builders assigned but they don’t do anything. I also tried closing the game and starting again and that doesn’t work either. If anyone knows how to fix this I would love to know.

Thanks !

Do you have plenty of repair supplies and worker tools? stone/planks/hammers etc…

How many houses are in need at the same time? It takes a long time if you have many houses
needing repair all at once.

house repairing is at the bottom of priority list for the AI so make sure you do NOT have
lots of projects going on elsewhere and make sure they are NOT set to priority. You would be surprised how many players say they have plenty of builders. example “I have 20 free” but have
6 projects going all priority with 24 workers assigned to those priority jobs . The houses never get
repaired. A road is finish and BOOM the player starts another priority project. lol

another reason is you need plenty of laborers free as well since they bring the supplies
to the builders. (builders bring supplies also it is a team effort)

remember without repair supplies none of the workers will do anything just like candle makers all stop working if there is no bees wax etc…

also if your workers are too far away from the houses they will have very little time to do anything since they will be traveling more than working.

Thanks for replying !

I have stone, planks, logs and tools. I also had 20 villagers assigned to building and 37 as labourers. I also made sure I had zero projects going on and them let them roam for almost a year and they didn’t repair anything. Pretty much every single building needed repairs. I also made sure to build a rest house (forget the name) so they don’t have to travel all the way back to their house to eat/rest/…

BUT

I think I figured it out. When I first started the game, I turned off auto-upgrade because I wanted to micromanage and choose what upgraded/when so I don’t waste all my gold. I think because I turned that off, they stopped repairing and upgrading. The SECOND I turned on auto-upgrade, the houses went in to upgrade mode. What do you think?

yeah that would do it. I just leave auto on because if you turn it off then you get a huge wave of repairs all at once and that is epic trouble. It is WAY better to repair as you go.
