Vivian Neven, post Rictor

Is there a conversation path to get Vivian Neven to not hate you?

Asking for a friend…

Lie to her about that dude, tell her he died.
I dont like this quest. The solution has been forced on me. I dont understand, why I couldn’t simply throw him into the portal and let him die there, in city, near his new friend. But noooooooooooooooooooo, we want big drama:undecided:

Huh. Coulda sworn I’d tried that. Thanks.

There’s a bunch of cases where being able to use what you have would give you more plausible immersion and all like that, but what can you do? Only so many coding hours in the day, really.

Yeah that annoyed me too. I guess he had a spine injury and cannot be moved?

But the other Malmouth quest is far more annoying where the crazy soldier just attacks you thinking you are possessed, and you have to kill him in front of the kids he protected. At least with the crazy hobo in Burrwitch, you knew what you had to say to not trigger his attack, but here it seems to be totally random.

Yeah you can lie to the girl to get a better story outcome, doesn’t affect anything though.

The Burn the Womb quest is like that as well, sometimes the truth is just too ugly for people to bear.

As for Savior, it was said that the result is random and sometimes you can’t save him at all and you have to make a new game to reroll it.

But in general it helps to be a goody two shoes in GD despite how cutthroat the world is.
When you kill people or choose the bad choice, it often ends up decreasing your options.
You can permanently lose out on an important vendor or lose some xp/rep/items from quest rewards.

There are a few times you can get away with being a jerk and get extra rewards though.

Agreed. And often, there are no good choices… I mean I wish you could save the witch to be burned (Ralia, I think?) without having to kill simple farmers.
In my first playthrough I did extort the guy with the cart for money - and when the alpha version got to Homestead and I learned that whoops, he was telling the truth - was too late. What happens if you kill him? His daughter will want revenge?
Another thing I only tried now is not giving the relic back to the Rovers. It’s an interesting Relic for sure, but the XP/Reputation is worth more probably.
And what I never tried is to tell the two “kidnapper scammers” that they can shoot the hostage for all I care.

You see simple farmers. I see murderous assholes with pitchforks and non-tiki torches. Po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe. What kind of “farmers” have found their way into the middle of the Blood Grove, anyway?

Double post, dammit. Never mind?

Yeah that is true… What are they doing in the middle of the Bloodsworn when the Black Legion did not even let me up there for a while

Yeah, if you move someone with a spine injury, he could die!

…oh, right.

Well, I guess he was trying to save her from the pain of seeing him dead. After all, it’s not like she might see his reanimated corpse lurching down the street in short order.

…oh, right.

Maybe he wants an aetherial makeover?

Y’know, I think I’ll just pretend this guy’s read too many books in which a similar scene plays out - the doomed hero sends away the distressed damsel while he nobly remains behind - and he’s determined to reenact the cliche himself, no matter how little sense it makes.

-“Go on without me!”
-“Okay.”
-“I am serious, I’d only slow you down… wait did you say OK?”

Yeah I have seen this joke done a few times. As you say, he probably thought it was a heroic effort.
What I find funny is how, since the game cannot just kill him off while you are on the same map, such characters remain there and repeat their texts over and over. Same with the sacrificed guy in the Burrwitch cellars, and the funniest is “Shanks” the gang lieutenant whom you kill after crossing to the west, and he keeps on dying for a loooong time to tell you about Cronley over and over.

Some of the villains that wait to die offscreen then leave a pile of “human remains”, so you can kick their ribs apart to look for loot. Grotesque, sure but oddly satisfying.

Slightly more macabre is that you can do the same to Isaac if you don’t find his spaulders particularly rewarding.

This game does a good job of constantly reminding you is subtle ways that you are not playing a sparkling-pure hero in this game. You’re mostly less ugly than the alternatives, though, so there’s that.

Indeed, especially for the rapist ex-partner. He had it coming.
Isaac, yeah that was him. I always wear his spaulders for many levels afterwards because they tend to be really good.
And yes, I like the game for this. Frankly I often wondered while playing how the story of this game would make for a pretty good gritty TV show, The Strain/The 100-style.

Oh and this reminds me, just read the Bloodsoaked Scribblings again in Gloomwald. Brrrr that story makes me shudder.

Is Rictor quest is bugged? When i found that woman behind the door, she asked me to take care of Rictor, but there is no any of npc in town with this name. So i decide to lie her and pull to portal. But after that there is only option is that Rictor is dead, you are monster, blah-blah-blah. Actually where i can found this son of a slith to bring him to life? The only thing i found with name of Rictor is a stash with his name i opened. I feel a bit depressed that i can’t help him, but i think that this is just a bug that this npc don’t spawn.

Umm, Rictor is right next to her. Where you found them both, he is lying on the ground, too injured to move. You can talk to him later and he will thank you for helping her.

It’s a bug. Rictor sometimes fails to spawn making you think “this bitch is crazy”

LOL! I did not know. But that is almost too funny. She is mad at you for letting her imaginary friend die.
-“I can look for your friend, sure. What did this Rictor look like?”
-“Well he is 8 feet tall, purple, and has green eyes and likes to dance and sing… wait why are you slowly backing away from me?”

Out of curiosity, how do you get the stash if Rictor fails to spawn for the conversation about it?

Given that before the patch you mostly wouldn’t even get it when he was there, this just seems wrong.

Ah well.
