Voidmarked container commonality

I’ve been playing the ascendant mode and I’ve noticed voidmarked chests/containers a bit too common, like close to half the containers I open are voidmarked. Has anyone else noticed this and is it intended?
The mechanic itself is pretty fun and all, my only small problem is their commonality and how out of the void monsters that spawn from the encounter, there’s usually a bunch of Chthonian Omens that spawn and shoot almost immediately at the player which can shotgun the character pretty quickly even which overcapped chaos resistance. It’s even a bit worse when one or two of the champions are of the funni Reflective ones.

I feel the mechanic is slightly too punishing for a character that is not geared for endgame encounters (a completed endgame build) especially when it happens in tight places, totems and devotion shrine encounters are not that punishing.

Not sure how large your sample size is, but in my experience it’s nowhere near half of all containers. I don’t know the actual numbers but I think it’s closer to 20% of all containers, but the RNG is highly variable so sometimes you get several ambushes in very quick succession, sometimes you can clear a whole area without getting a single one. Of course it also depends on your looting behavior, if you turn over every single rock and corpse that would normally just drop a few iron bits you’ll naturally get more ambushes. I personally think it’s a good thing, I need those sweet Ashes of Awakening that are guaranteed to drop at these events.

Sounds like it’s working as intended, that character is simply not ready for Ascendant. Gear up and try again.

I mean, you can just play Ultimate if the character isn’t geared for endgame encounters. Ascendant is made for endgame characters.

Or Ultimate plus just the Ascendant Altar modifiers you want.

Voidmarked Chests = FUN TIME

At least for me, I go hunting in Ultimate using 3 Aster’s on the altar and they even help fill up a bit on soul echos :3 Also they’re the best source of Ashes out there so far, dropping anywhere from 1-3 per encounter, which makes it very easy to awaken items.

OK, after playing some more I can say that RNG indeed does RNG things, I can go through a zone with no trapped chests and another time open three chests in a row and all of them are trapped,
All in all, can’t complain about their rarity but I wish the monsters spawned in the incident were more varied as others have pointed out too.
