I think it would be cool if the phys to chaos conversion would be part of the item itself instead of the proc. The uptime on it makes it so that it is very unreliable and cannot realistically be built around. It would enable a lot more variation to chaos damage based pet builds since they wouldn’t be locked behind the occultist class and fiendgaze tome combo.
Alternatively you could just improve the uptime on the proc so it would be more reliable. Something like 5 sec cooldown with 10 sec duration.
Balancing concerns:
- No need to be Occultist - I don’t see this as a big issue since Occultist already offers bunch of strong buffs for pets.
- No need for Fiengaze tome - Opens up all the pet off-hands. Could be a problem, but the RR from Fiendgaze tome is a big damage multiplier and the stats of the item are also not bad, so this would also be a trade-off.
