I am now playing Voracious Reach Witchblade and I have noticed that using War Cry interrupts spinning for quite a long time and those interruptions cause the gameplay to be not much fun. I don’t know if somebody has noticed this with EoR and Soldier as well. I have not played EoR with a Soldier so far. Speeding up the animation of War Cry would be good or make it somehow interrupt spinning for shorter time. For example Curse of Frailty or Bloody Pox can be used very well with spinners. But War Cry is just awful to use.
Warcry interrupts anything. I told a few patches ago in the new patch announce thread but no one cared. It’s annoying actually, stopping time is really long not just for spinners, even for Cadence builds. It breaks the pace of the combat and make the character vulnerable while casting it. I think it’s because of it’s animation and I believe it needs to change just for QoL atleast.
If one picks War Cry only for the % reduced damage might as well drop the war cry as Soulfire already has that modifier too although with less percentage value. But it will be a different story if the reason to pick War Cry is for the flat RR especially for physical damage (I doubt anyone wants to play EoR with terrify modifier). That being said I choose to avoid using War Cry on spinner build even on the physical build and looking for flat RR elsewhere.
This makes me to rely on devotion for both the % reduced damage (Empyrion) and flat RR (Scales) as seen here on my meme/fun voracious Warlord
There is no better flat RR than Warcry for physical builds. If you hardcap it you get 45 flat physical rr. You get -%32 from damn Assassin’s Mark which is PITA to inflict. Playing physical soldier but not using Break Morale is just for meme builds. But for example I don’t use Warcry with my Belgo BM even though I can spare extra skill points and need damage reduction but no, it’s just slowing things down. Let’s say you have DW build, with maximum AS; while casting Warcry you can probably hit atleast 2x your AA plus one or two wps which is much much better.
Yep you’re right, but on spinner build I just prefer not to take it. The windup animation of the spinner skill and war cry full stop animation in one build are just too meh for me. Different story if I’m using cadence, blade arc, or etc.
The other thing I have noticed is that you can sometimes cancel out War Cry. If I use War Cry and then something else just after it can get canceld out.
The animation seems the same as with OFF. But using OFF with spinners is OK. War Cry just noticably interrupts and behaves weird. If it were to behave like OFF it would be great.
Judgment also behaves quite well with spinners and it is a similar skill.
I would say that the interruption from War Cry is about 2-3x more time consuming than Judgment or OFF which seem the same to me.
Are you sure? I usually see it the other way around which is you try to cast some skill while some animations are in progress and it doesn’t go off as a consequence.
Maybe it is that. But of these three similar skills - OFF, Judgment, War Cry. War Cry just stands out.
