Warhammer End Times : Vermintide 2 to be released during Q1 2018

For those who never played the first game, Vermintide is a online coop first person game that emphasizes on surviving through massive maps while slaughtering hundreds of baddies.
You could sum it up as “Left 4 Dead in the Warhammer Fantasy universe”.

Fatshark just showed some Vermintide 2 gameplay and it looks fantastic.

Them Chaos Warriors man.

I’ve played some of Vermintide. It’s fun, for sure.

Is Vermintide worth buying if you don’t plan on playing with other people? I played L4D solo and that was tons of fun and I got into competitive leagues for L4D2, but I don’t really care about online playing these days.

Still, with the game being on such a huge sale, I’m wondering if I should just grab it now. Though I am hesitant since most of the positive reviews come from players who say they hated L4D’s gameplay…

The gameplay is a bit slower and more technical than L4D. You can play solo but the game is designed for multiplayer. The AI companions are kinda dumb and won’t get you very far, at least not in the higher difficulty levels where the good gear drops.

Still looks rather repetitive. L4D was repetitive, but it was faster and more exciting.

I don’t mean to bash Vermintide needlessly, because the first one was a good game and I’m sure this second one will be too. But I’ve personally never been a huge fan, outside of playing around in the Warhammer universe.

I’ll probably wait for this to show up in a humble monthly, as I did with the first Vermintide.

I wouldn’t wait for a Humble bundle now that IGN own it. There’s a lot of speculation that IGN is going to gut the company or start charging flat rates for all bundles.

Looks interesting, I actually liked the idea of the first one, and mostly passed on it due to time constraints and it being a Fatshark close combat game when I was still more than bit sore about how War of the Roses and War of the vikings turned out, even if that wasn’t (all) their fault.

Vermintide having even more atrocious and unreliable hit detection than either War of … title ever managed when I tried it during a free weekend didn’t exactly help matters, either.

Whether I pick this up or not will largely depend upon how suited it turns out to be for occasional play… and between RNG-based grinding and probably needing a stable group of co-players, that’s not looking too promising…

VT2 features dwarf slayer as a playable character. Bad news for my bank account: I have to buy a new PC soon.:sweat_smile:
